I've gotta share this find with you people..
Recently I posted my need for an application to modify the volume level of single sound files in SH3. A respondent recommended Audacity, which I downloaded. I know Audacity works, but one look at it and my eyes glazed over. For some, you took to it like ducks to water, but for me, I wanted something extremely simple and intuitive without the need to spend time trying to wrap my head around. Well, I found it. It's called Audio Amplifier Free; I'd be hard pressed to find anything simpler. Google it or pick it up at the Softpedia site. Last edited by Greystone; 02-18-15 at 05:45 PM. |

I have used Goldwave Version 4.26 in the past. It claims that it's not recommended for current windows systems, but I've used it successfully on XP and Windows 7 machines, and it's free.
Once the program is open click file, open and load the audio you want to edit. Then click effects, volume, change, and you can adjust the volume to whatever percentage you want. Greater than 100% will be louder and less than 100% will be softer. It also has a volume maximize option, which will increase the volume as much as possible without distorting the sound. If you want to save the changes as MP3 you will have to download the LAME MP3 dll file, but the link for the file is on the Goldwave website. |
