Hey folks,
Just getting into SH5 after a long hiatus from SH4. I had SH4 heavily modded, RSRD, some radio and graphic mods, etc I can't recall exactly what was in play but it made the sim so much better. As a returning noob was hoping that some of you old salts could steer me in the right direction for some of the must have mods for SH5. I am also regaining my sea legs and want to go back to manual targetting and used to run at about 95% realism but need to get it back under my belt so to speak before ratcheting up the difficulty. I was pretty much using the O'Kane targeting method and was wondering if there is anything as equally effective and relatively straightforward for the German boats.... Thanks, and happy hunting... agroberts |

Hi ,
Yes I have the same history with SH3 and 4 and mods and bought SH5 a couple of weeks ago... The mod situation for SH5 is different than 3 and 4 because as well as the JGSME mod manager that you are used to, there is also the TDW's patcher. TDW patcher has a lot of bug fixes and some features of the mods won't work without the patcher so you need the patcher. The instructions on the forum say to use the patcher first then install the mods but I get CTD and bugs in game if I just do that. I have had to use the patcher , install the mods , then go and play with some of the patcher settings again to get it all to work. I wanted just the bug fixes and manual TDC... not crazy long list of mods. Here is my mods list, the bold ones you will see in every modlist on the forum and are nesseary Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_byTheBeast Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 #Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1_HotFix Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 Hotfix_2 (without date) Sub_Exhaust_1_0_5_byTheDarkWraith R.E.M_by_Xrundel_TheBeast_1.2 FX_Update_0_0_22_ByTheDarkWraith FX_Update_0_0_22_Stock_Torpedoes - MagDet range 3m (modified for torpedoes failure patches) MightyFine Crew Mod 1.2.1 Stock w beards Reworked Morale and Abilities v.1.1 Parts Magui V 3.06 by DrJones Parts Magui V 3.01 by DrJones - English Menu (for V3.06) Optional Binocular 2 EQuaTool 01.01 by AvM - Kriegsmarine Light Style OPEN HORIZONS II v2.5 OH II v2.5 Grid Request fix Patch SH5 IO_StrategicMap_4_3_for_Magui V 3.06 by DrJones The main decision I see is between the "TDW new UI" or "Parts MagUI" These two mods both great add so much to the game. TDW new UI has more features but Magui is much nicer looking. Maybe try them both and see which you prefer. Also, just to be clear. When I first loaded my mods and start the game I may found for example that the stadimeter didn't work correctly even though I ticked the "fix stadimeter" box in TDW patcher. Well just go and untick that same box and try again and then it works. That goes for some of the patcher features. If you see a feature not working try changing the patcher setting again and this has fixed a few problems for me. that should get you going. |
