People will go to the ends of the earth for their pets. We have to stump up ~£100 every 6 weeks for one of our rabbits to have recurring dental work done. It's all done in the name of love.

That said, I can see why people would be aghast at the £300 bill to treat what is traditionally thought of as a 'disposable' pet. IMHO, no pets are disposable.

£300 for an operation on a pet is dirt cheap.
We payed twice as much in one year just to treat our dogs ligament problems. No operation was involved.

How much?

We post out prices for our services on the hatch entering the bilge. Sometimes we have specials and we'll throw in a quart of bilge stew...

A fine example of why I pay pet insurance.

My dog is sitting at my feet in the man cave as I type this, loyal and reliable as ever....heck, even Steve talks to him when we're on Skype

Ditto on the insurance, so far this year a pancreatic scan £80 excess insurance has to stump up a further £450, plus two steroid shots one vitamin b shot and 3 different Anti biotics. Then there is a thyroid problem but that is under a different claim and is ongoing for 5 years. Also Two Cancer ops, within the last 3 years. My ins quote starting this Feb, £112 pm. But I'd hate to think how much I'd have paid without it.

He's my Boxer and I love the bugger to bits.

Best regards.

I paid $2.75 a piece to a local fisherman at Hell's Half Acre, ME for these pets . Then we boiled them alive and ate them.

Well when you consider how small the operation would have been, and the circumstances in which they would have had to have operated. Surprised it was possible at all, to be honest.
A similar operation on a cat or dog would probably be in four figure numbers. Sadly it's an expensive thing to have animals these days, and people wonder why the shelters are all so full...there's many good people out there who would treat their animals with care, if they could afford it, but sadly there's many who can afford it but just don't bother.

Besides, you scale that fish up a little and go for a Koi Carp...and you're probably looking at a three figure number just to buy the thing.
