Default Eastern British Coastal mission questions

It's Oct. 1939 and I'm on my first mission off Eastern British coast; I've been assigned to patrol AN7932 and I received a message telling me that my patrol area is in a radius of 80km for 48 hrs. I'm within 70km from the center of AN7932 since nearly three days, I have sunk two merchants whose tonnage has been added to the tonnage bar -- and yet my mission is incomplete according to my captain's log. Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong?

I am meeting several darkened neutral ships sailing in the exclusion zone (one Belgian, one Finnish, two Norwegians): am I correct assuming these are NOT legitimate targets, even if I have orders to sink any darkened ship in the area?

Side note: I have an overcast sky AND light fog, and yet I can see the stars at night. Is this a known bug (and is there a patch/mod to change it)?

Thanks for helping.

Gute Jagd

Default Am suffering through the same problem.

I've not solved it yet either.

I understood that it had to do with certain mods (sobers OH2.5 Kiel Lite mod V4 SH5) being installed properly but I'm thinking my mod list is OK now and yet no joy on completing this 80 KM area style mission. I was not sure if the 80KM area was based on where my map centered or on the map quadrant that was closest to the center. Just to be safe I stayed within both. Still no joy. I'm guessing that if the icon isn't on the nav map, You're not gonna get completion credit for patrolling it.

I also just completed the Eastern British Coastal Waters (Ended it on Dec 1 so as to be sure my next mission was available ASAP) At my new mission briefing I requested North Western Approaches and also got a new patrol area mission as well. On the mission briefing chart, the area in question was identified by a sinking ship icon. And yet when I started the mission, that icon was NOT on the Nav map. I'm guessing that I'll have a problem there as well.

Just to be safe I played with U-play in on-line mode for most of this I understand that some folks felt having u-play in off-line mode was causing their mission bar to not fill up.

Any experts want to jump in with the definitive word?

Default Ask the modders

Why don't you put your issue into the thread for the Open Horizons mod?
Trevally is the author; so message him?
Sober wrote the radio message patch; so message him?

Hi guys

I think EBCW needs 50,000 tons as does NWA to complete the patrols.

Your mission icon disappeared because you are using grid references, not a problem.

Do not sink any green map contacts as these are neutrals.

Use this mod to cure the problem and place after your DE mods.

You should still be seeing the campaign icon even though you are using a grid reference.

Anywhere within this patrol area can be patrolled.

NWA concentrate on the area above Loch Ewe.

There also movements between Stornoway and Loch Ewe.

There is usually a lot of fog around so not many aircraft about as EBCW.

If you feel brave enough try going in to Stornoway at night where you should find a few targets docked.

I am having some problems with this as well.

I get my missions through the commander in the dock and accept the eastern british coastal waters mission and on the map there is the little cross which i press on and then a red line pops up. Am i supposed to stay inside of that red line? Is there a specific area i should patrol and how do i find out that?

I have sunk some ships inside the red line and outside but the bar does not fill up.

I have sunk maybe 5 ships and can barely see any difference on the bar. Either it have filled up very little or nothing.

I am new to Silent Hunter so maybe i am doing something wrong

Hi McKvack

The thin red line you refer to is your patrol area.

Use your mouse wheel and it will become bigger.

Use your ruler and draw lines through the red line so when the red line disappears you will know where your patrol boundary is.

You should be on or inside the red line.

This is between the coast and the patrol area.

It also sounds that you might have a tonnage bar problem.

Check your Captains Log (Hat) and look at the ships you have sunk which should you some data.

If you see all zero’s then you have a corruption and you might as well abandon this patrol but delete any saves that relate to the patrol.

Use your last Autosave In Base to go back to the Flotilla Leader and try again.

If you still have the same problem then delete all saves and start a new campaign.

All green contacts on your map are neutral ships so do not sink these.

I do not think you are doing anything wrong.
