Default The new Iranian "drone"

So this is supposedly Iran's new drone reverse engineered from the RQ-170.

Anyone else think this looks awfully a lot like a R\C Model airplane?

I love how the take off footage was sped up.
Apart from that, nothing to see.

Time to build a deeper bunker...and soundproof it

It took them long enough.

You got drone plans on instructables.com for years now

That's just the thing. For under $1000, any one of us could go out and buy all the parts required for a long distance drone. In fact I wouldn'y even have to put on clothes, amazon has everything I need (I would use the subsim affiliate link!).

Lately I've been getting into Arduino programming (it's a programmable circuit board, very very easy to use), and they make a GSM shield for it. That's a cell phone adapter. They sell programmable autopilots for drones, but an Arduino could easily handle the job.

Program your waypoints into the Arduino (which is also using a GPS shield, both shields cost about $20 each), add video and data transmission through the GSM, and I could literally have a trans-continental Drone. My only limiting factor would be engine and fuel effeciency. The construction of the plane itself is trivial, as there are hundreds of well established designs for large model airplanes.

But that's my point. The whole drone thing is trivial. What's interesting is that nation states take so long to actually get one.

Materials for a light weight fibreglass hull I can steal from work.

Heck, we can even make the mould for mas production

The begginings of the infamous "Slovenian Trojan Unicorn" project? It all started here.
