I am interested in modding SH3. To start, I thought I would try to simply edit a TGA file and then see if the edited file shows up in game. I downloaded s3d and exported the deck tga for the viic. I drew all over it in red and used s3d to import it back into the .dat file. I saved the .dat file. I opened up SH3 and check the sub in the game and museum and don't see my changes. I check the .dat file again and the deck tga shows the modification. See below.

Look in folder: data\Textures\TNormal\tex
If there have a file NSS_Uboat7c_deck.tga, it is with priority against that in .dat file.

Thanks gents. I put my tga file in the tnormal\tex (the only file in there now) and now I see it on the uboat. For some reason it doesn't show up on the surfaced version though only submerged. Now to see what more damage I can do.
