VLC should actually contain all the codecs you will ever need, so I find it odd that it cannot play sound on mp4 files. Do any error messages pop up when you open the file?

I'm using the same version as yourself without any problems but I do notice reports on the internet of identical problems with the latest version of RealPlayer.
All I can suggest is uninstall and download again. |
