Sorry, trying to figure this out on my own, but after searching several threads I'm not finding out the answer to what I have going on. I am in the step by step Mod installation thread and following along with that, but I come to the part fairly early on about downloading the JSGME file, which I could do just fine, but then the instructions are saying to use the jsgme setup file. Where does the setup file come from? I am trying to open the JSGME that I downloaded, but it keeps asking me what I want to open it with and the things I have tried telling it to open with are not working. The step by step doesn't include how to get the setup file, or is the JSGME file itself simply a setup file? thanks

My JSGME has an installer. You select the root directory of your SH4 and the installation goes on. When started by first time the program ask you about the creation of a MODS folder. Click YES and that is all.

![]() I don't remember what I used to install/open JSGME, but you should get 7-zip, if you don't already have it. Most mods will be compressed files and 7-zip will come in handy. |

It's been a long time since I installed JSGME too, but I don't recall it being compressed - in any case you can check it by looking at the file extension by right clicking and selecting properties - if it's .rar .zip or .7z then you'll need to unpack it - if it's an executable file then copy it to your game directory and run it - you need to say yes to the MODS folder and then take a file snapshot, which is done via the utilities menu and that's pretty much that.

That's just it, when I right click on it, it doesn't give me anything like properties to look at. It asks me what I want to open it with, then shows a list of explorer, adobe, paint, an app from the app store, etc. I don't know what to do with it from there. Tried explorer but that didn't seem to do anything with it, then adobe wouldn't work on it... that's when I decided to ask here. I get that I need to have this loaded to do mods from the step by step instructions, but this thing with not being able to get to the setup file has me stopped. Oh, and I have that 7zip file sitting in a documents folder, as per the instructions in the thread I referenced, but that's all I've done with it so far.

Its a compressed file, any decompression software will open it. Winrar, winzip 7zip etc all work. I use winrar myself since the trial version never stops working (had it on "trial" basis for 8 years lol)
Basically just download winrar and install it. Then use it to extract JSGME. You will need this kind of software anyway for the mods themselves as they too are all in compressed formats and need extracting. Happy Hunting. |
