Must ask. Is anyone really having luck with Four bearing?

I gave up on the stationary gathering of bearing info and have just moved onto the one where bearing info is gathered while the boat is moving.
No luck.
I am following the tutorial as outlined in the PDF this thread pertains to.
Again I am getting completely wrong info.
Same mission. I know my target is headed 270. I am getting contact info every 5 minutes.
My point of confusion seems to be when I reach the point of "protracting the distance between p2/q2, and p3/q3. First thing...the diagram looks nothing like what is described. It looks more like the distance betwen P2 (R2?) and P3, and the distance between Q2 (G2?) and Q3. The term "protracting" is also causing issues. Does it mean "measure" the distance between these two points?
The reason for the parenthesized numbers is because in the description P2 changes to R2, and Q2 changes to G2.
In any case I get two solutions that are close to the target's course, But when I draw the line between Sp and Sq, my solution is almost 90 degrees off.
I looked at the 2nd version of this method and that looks 50 times more difficult than the first version. How are you all able to get this method to work, cause I just can't seem to get this. The Tutorial in the sim seemed good, but I noticed some serious bugs in it, not the least being that the sonar operator is not in fact giving those bearings being collected as he is deaf as a stump. I was really hoping the more in detail v2 of the four bearing method would help, but that too is worded horribly (only partial explanations going back to version one of the PDF), and just one helluva lot more mapping that I have a good feeling the crews of submarines did NOT have to deal with.
