I'm playing the latest release of SH3 with GWX, a screenshot of my mods is below. Every time I start a patrol I usually end up turning the game off in the middle of a patrol to resume the patrol the next day or later in the week. Well, before I exit the game I make sure to save my patrol at least 3-4 times. Lately however every single save I make is a CTD when I try to resume the game. For instance, I just got done playing for like 4 hours sneaking my way into scapa flow to sink a carrier. My batteries got down to 25% so I had to go hide in a cove to surface, I saved the game 4 times there. I just tried to load the saves and every one of them is a CTD>!>!>!!>!?!?!? This is so frustrating!!!!!
When I enabled the mods I made sure there weren't any conflicts. The screenshot is below, if anyone has any fixes for this I will be so grateful. I am addicted to GWX but this nonsense really makes this game a nightmare to play. ![]() |

Well, you did seem to save in the vicinity of Scapa Flow. No doubt there were still units in the 3d environment. This can cause save-game corruptions. When in doubt, submerge and do a hydrophone check. If you hear something, get out of spawning range of it before you save (atleast 35 km, popular recommendation is 50km to be sure)

I found that the mod TDW_DC_Water_Disturbance_v4_0_SH3 caused exactly the same CTD behavior when running in my mod configuration (33 mods).
I'm not about to condemn TDW_DC_Water_Disturbance_v4_0_SH3 as defective, for two reasons: First, The Dark Wraith is an outstanding programmer and modder, brilliant and conscientious. I do not believe he would release a product he hadn't tested thoroughly. Second, others use TDW_DC_Water_Disturbance_v4_0_SH3 and do not report problems, so the mod works fine in their environment. That said, when I remove TDW_DC_Water_Disturbance_v4_0_SH3 from MY mod list, the CTD problem goes away. Others have reported similar results. It appears that something in TDW_DC_Water_Disturbance_v4_0_SH can interact with something in my mod list. An industrious person would work through the mod list and identify the other mod contributing to the problem. But when I finally found that I could eliminate my CTD problem by deactivating TDW_DC_Water_Disturbance_v4_0_SH, I was so overjoyed to be able to play the game again, that I haven't gone back and tried to characterize the problem. So I suggest that you deactivate TDW_DC_Water_Disturbance_v4_0_SH and see if that eliminates your CTDs. Doing so won't allow you to recover saves that are now experiencing CTDs though. AFAIK, they are lost forever. |

So what I did is I removed the water disturbance mod and I made those edits in the properties of the SH3 folders and it seems to be loading saves with no problem now. Thanks again!
