Default For All the Art Lovers Here Is A Great Resource

THe Getty Museum, headquartered in Los Angeles, has made all of its images that would fall under public domain or are prprietary to the Getty publicly available on the internet:

For those of you who may not know, the Getty museum is the legacy of J. Paul Getty, an oil baron who was also a collector of fine art.

http://www.getty.edu/

He bequeated his fortune and art collection to a trust for the purpose of creating two museums to house his collection, to acquire other works of art, to conserve antiquities, to promote art education and to aid other outside entities involved in the preservation and restoration of art worldwide. There are two facilites; one is in the Mailbu area and is modeled after an ancient Roman villa; the other is a sprawling museum and art conservation complex in the hills above Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. The hillside museum is the main part of the foundation and is referred to as 'The Getty'. The foundation is fully self supporting and charges no admission to the public to enter the museum. The museum grounds have an extensive series of gardens that are also open to the public. There is even a small rail system to convey visitors from the lower parking area to the museum entrance. The entire complex is a great example of someone using their wealth to better the arts and invite the public to freely particpate. Of course, this causes me a bit of moral conflict. After all, it was one of those evil oilmen who made it all possible...

Some remarkable things to look at there. Thanks for the heads-up.
