On the cost front soft drinks cost more than a pint for example friend and I went into a pub he had a medium coke I had a pint of ale. Cost for his coke £4.12 my pint £3.22, I got more beer to drink at a cheaper price.

I can't drink, and even I don't see the point of a "Booze-free" bar. That's what fast food joints are for.

Doesn't work in NYC. Can't get an all nighter drink.

Most of our bars provide free soft drinks to a "designated driver"

But who wants to herd a bunch of drunks that vomit in your car?

Oh and BTW: Remember the oxygen bars? Ground floor opportunities in a certain part of China.

We have a few alcohol free bars in my area. They're aimed more at the younger college crowd who are too young to legally drink. They don't call them "bars" because they wanted to get away from the stigma. If you go in one though, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Well, the Scottish Government is determined to enact minimum pricing on alcohol, going it alone even if the UK government won't implement.

Legislation's already been passed, but the Scotch Whisky Association keeps trying to block it. The SWA failed in court, but it keeps appealing, therefore holding up implementation.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-26828871

Mind you, the UK Government has announced measures to ban extreme discounting:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26040550

Then you have to add in the blank packaging for cigarettes as well - England and Wales first, then Holyrood will surely follow:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-26865693

In short, if you drink and smoke "they" feel your costing the NHS too much money to treat - therefore "they" want you to stop!!!!

I'm a non-smoking teetotaler, but it's a bit Nanny State!

Mike.
