Default Turkey downs Syrian military jet

Payback time perhaps?

Quote:
Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan says its armed forces have shot down a Syrian military jet which had violated its airspace.

He warned such action by Syria merited a "heavy response".

But Syria accused Turkey of "blatant aggression", saying the plane had been over Syrian territory at the time.

The incident reportedly occurred in an area where Syrian rebels and government forces have been fighting for control of a border crossing.

Turkey and Syria - once allies - have more than 500 miles (800km) of common border.

Erdogan needs to direct attention away from his failed attempt to silence twitter. A bit of war is always good for that.

Well the record from the various radars should settle this issue quickly

Could've used a pigeon in their intake. Why waste a good thanksgiving feast?

Odd looking aircraft, it looks like it has a single tail, and yet the rest of it looks like a MiG-29...

It has been reported that Twitter got blocked by Erdoghan due to revelations showing how corrupt his government is. The ban has been declared invalid by their high court meanwhile.

Today I read that the recent ban of youtube as well, was due to a revealing telephone recording, where the foreign minister or chief of secret services talked with Erdoghan about how to provoke a war with Syria by having a covered operation by Turkish agents launching missiles from Syrian soil onto Turkish territory (to make this an article 5 issue and force NATO into the conflict or at least bring Turkey into the war).

Longer time ago already, a Turkish jet provoked Syrian air defences by penetrating Syrian air space repeatedly, and loitering around until it got shot down and crashed in international waters then, as far as I remember.

Then there was the provocation of Israel over that Gaza blockade runner. I am still shocked that Israel gave in to brainless Washington pressure to finally offer an excuse and compensations. They must have been drunk in Jerusalem on that day, or Obama threatened to pose naked on the web.

How much I love this freaking bastard and wannabe Sultan Erdoghan. Since years I am preaching that he is a fundamentalist, an autocratic powerhungry wannabe-dicator, who highjacked democratic legitimation rites to have his arch-conservative agenda being driven home into town like in a trojan horse. He even said it right into the West's face that democracy is to be abandoned once Islamic goals had been achieved. Now he reveals himself to be like just any other autocratic ME dosser filling his pockets and that of his family and lying and cheating where he could.

That german SAM units where sent to Southern Turkey and Berlin thus honoured his theatre play and cheating tactics, is a scandal and a shame, even more when considering what a sh!tty welcome the Germans have been given - and that is no vulgar offence: the toilets and in parts the quarters shown to the Germans, literally were covered with feces on the ground, and sanitary installations and toilets were clogged, and had been intentionally battered. The former garrison commander beat a female German guard who was instructed to let nobody pass, she had to get treatment by the doc.

It seems I have not been the only German who has had his own special experiences with the Turks outside the Westernised cities and tourist metropoles. Turkish rural places were - on a human level - the most unfriendly lands I have ever travelled throughout the ME. Even in countries that were more dangerous at that time, we usually were met with much more politeness and interest and even kindness - that includes Algeria, which was extremely dangerous at that time, and Iran.

In some time we will learn the real story about this Syrian fighter having penetrated Turkish air space. I do not believe one bit in this story the way it is being told by the Turks. Not for one second.

Not with their record of manipulations and provocations.
