Actually quite common; On security assignments for auto commercials: all of the beautiful cars are trucked in on eighteen wheelers in super vans and sent back after the shoot to be shredded at Detroit or wherever as they are not emission-street legal. Cadillacs, Porsches, Hondas, Kias, whatever. Sad, but just business as usual.

They crunch most of their test vehicles no matter what. My late uncle used to salvage many of their crash test cars in his junk yard in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

It's a terrible shame that Chrysler found a need to Indian give their Vipers. Since the cars aren't street legal, I can understand. All because one knucklehead couldn't resist a joy ride.
