I have Win 7 Home Premium on my laptop, and naturally Front Page will not run on it. I read that Win 7 Ultimate has an XP Mode, anyone familiar with that?
I wouldn't mind buying the upgrade for Win 7 Ultimate if this actually works, anyone?

Can't you just run Front page in one of "XP compatibility Modes"??,
Right click on the "Front Page.exe" and choose one of the XP modes in the compatibility tab. I have Win7 x64 Home premiun and this is available to me to run older programs. |

As far as i know Frontpage should run on it without problem (?)
Almost all 32bit programs should, with a few exceptions, mostly regarding hardware and drivers. What does it say when you try to install it ? When you have Win 7 professional or 'ultimate' 64 bit, you can also mount a virtual machine, it is not Hyperview yet but works similarly, called Virtual PC. You can download it for free, since it is not on the OS install disk - update edit: Hmm ok, some say it does not work with WIn7, some say it does. Seems there are some restrictions in live updates, but since i do not use it .. Of course when you install virtual pc and have FP be running on a virtual XP system there should be no problem. Another idea would be the successor of FP, "Expression web", or to use an entirely different WYSIWYG web editor, like "Serif X6" or 7. I use the #6 myself, it is a very good and easy program, and 'relatively' cheap (around 80 Euros, here in Europe). Greetings, Catfish Last edited by Catfish; 02-16-14 at 02:32 PM. |

Well, I have to install Front Page 97 to begin, all the rest through Front Page 2002 are upgrades
![]() When I run set up on FP 97, I get The Front Page component setup program cannot be started, error 5. Lovely, error 5. Whatever the hell that is. ![]()

Tried that?
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...e-cc4d6c5f73d9 Regarding Sharepoint, i heard it only works within MS surroundings and intranet, so if the FP installation still does not work Share point may not be the solution.. may, that is - i'm out since one year and you know what that measn, in IT .. |

Hmm... somewhere I read Front Page 2003 works with 64bit OS, but I thought MS stopped at FP2002...
![]() I have MS Expression Web but man, that is overkill for what I use it for, and it's really clunky, it's hard to create a page without 5 million style and classes. I'm just looking for a simple web authoring tool. ![]() Maybe I'll give this a try.... or this may be more what I am looking for. Edit: WebEasy Pro? Anyone ever use this?

If you have a 8Gb laptop with Win7 64 bit i would advise to download the free Virtual PC, and then install e.g. XP as a virtual machine - this way you can use FP and lots of other older programs without a fuss ..

There are two possibilities: you can run xp mode, which is a virtual machine for Win7 with a pre-installed and fully licensed XP, or use the aforementioned Virtual PC.
XP mode can only run XP, while you can install any OS you like in Virtual PC, even Linux - but also XP. You will then need a licenses XP though, for the installation in the latter. Link to XP Mode free download: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...e-in-windows-7 |

Have you looked at Expression Web 4 from Microsoft?
It's free. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=36179 |

Good to know, I thought it'd be a lot more simpler now to create a site than with over a decade old FP though. I used to use it on a limited basis.
I'm sure I've still got my discs somewhere. . .
