Can someone help me with mods?

Hey I'm new to the forum, I have an alienware m17x r3 with an AMD Radeon hd 6900M card, 64bit OS windows 7, 2.4 ghz, and 16 gb of RAM.

I have a steam version of SH5 and I have tried every list I can from sjizzle and others and the only thing that happens is ctd to the uplay thing.

It seems to be Open Horizons II, no matter what I try same thing happens even when I run it on its own.

JGSME installed to the root folder in steam as well.

I'm sure you get a ton of questions like these, please forgive my newbiness but you seem to be one of the most experienced guys here and I was hoping you could help me.

I'm not going to be much help, since my computer won't even run SH5, but this is as good a place as any to say WELCOME ABOARD!

the steam version of the game is a crap one .... cos u can't use the tdw generic patcher... without this patcher the game is almost unplayable...
take a look if u have patche to 1.2 the game... my suggestion is to buy no steam of the game is damn cheap 5 - 10 Euro in Europe ....

Look for the uplay launcher in windows explorer. May be called ubisoft game launcher. Right-click executable, go to properties, go to details. Uplay is now 4.2+ version. Uplay may be trying to sync your game and uplay information on your hard drive with online servers, may have a version conflict that causes CTD. Go to Ubisoft/uplay website for latest download.

Details left out here. Game does not CTD when Open Horizons is not enabled?

"as well"? - meaning it is understood to be at SH5 root folder, too? JGSME should be installed in the root folder of SH5 for mods to work.

I do not know how Steam treats JSGME. Does Steam require JSGME to be installed at its' root folder for MODS to work properly. If anyone as an answer for sure on this, let us know.

A warm welcome to the Subsim family. Whether you are playing III-IV or V you will always find someone here to help you.

Get the Dvd version it's cheap and you will then have the option to reinstall if you need to.. Steam and other downloads forget it too much hassle not worth it.

Dvd after installing go to Ubisoft - Silent Hunter 5 - Support - Gameupdater - Gu run the application and the game will update to v1.2

You need to be able to use TDW's Generic Patcher so at least you can enable the torpedo patches.

Hey guys I think I got it all figured out got a non steam version and im using the latest generic patcher.

I've tried pretty much everything to get sobers mod to work and fifi's list as well.

Magnum Opus does work fine for me, the only problem is that I don't know how to make Open Horizons II work with it.

I've tried enabling ohII after MO but it doesn't work and results in a CTD when I start a new campaign.

How can I get OHII to work with MO? If I can get it work then I will be all set and after a week of trying to get the mods to work nonstop all day everyday it would be a welcome relief.

I can use the validator to provide txt files if that is needed, and if someone comes to the rescue I'd be glad to provide any info that they request.

Oh and HELLO! sorry I forgot to introduce myself I have been lurking for years on and off ever since I played sh3 which i just loved. But I finally decided that since SH5 was such a disaster and the modsoup is so......

so yea ahoy!

Too much work for no reason. MO is a very outdated megamod. Most if not all the mods which were included into it, are available as separate downloads, and have been much improved since the release of the latest MO version.

While we wait for the next big thing by Rongel, my suggestion is to stick to one of the excellent and fully tested mod lists devised by Sober, Fifi, or Sjizzle. All of them feature OHII and, with dome caution, they can be adjusted to your needs

Tip of the hat to the guys who did the radio and grammophone ones, GrossDeutscher Rundfunk in particular I'm thrilled to listen to finally.
