I've been searching everywhere for a solution to this problem but so far nothing. The problem is after closing the game I get a blue screen. Then the next day or whenever the game opens up in windowed mode with no sound. A new career has been created called "player". My career is still there though. When I load up any of the gameplay modes ie my career or single mission the game starts paused and it cannot be unpaused. The only solution I have found so far is a complete clean reinstall (Uninstalled, manually deleted file fragments left behind, cleaned registry and deleted the contents of the install shield and temp folders). I acheived this last night and this morning the problem has occured again after 1 patrol. I would really like to get beyond mid-1941 as the game really hots up then but thats as far as I have got before the career is either corrupted or I get this problem.
My Computer Windows XP SP3 (Fully Updated) Silent Hunter III v1.6 (unofficial patch) with GWX Gold v3.0 Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz x 2 (Dual Core) 2Gb of PNY RAM 1Gb Nvidia Geforce 210 GPU A reason why this happens or the file(s) thought to be involved would also be helpful as I might be able to rescue it without a full re-install. ![]()

sounds like a ram issue.
Make sure the 4gb patch is NOT selected in Hsies patch as well Last edited by desertstriker; 01-05-14 at 06:21 AM. Reason: $ instead of 4 |

What is version 1.6 unofficial patch, I have never heard of it? GWX will only work with version 1.4b the last official patch.

I believe OP is referring to h.sie's V16B1-Patch-Kit.
Quote:
"Activate ALL your desired JSGME-Mods in the correct order." Then modify the Menu.txt and Campaign_SCR.mis files according to the directions. Then move all the files required into the Supplement to V16B1 mod folder. Place the Supplement to V16B1 folder in the MODS folder of the SH3 game folder. Then - and only then - activate Supplement to V16B1 using JSGME. If you follow these directions, you can only activate h.sie's patches last. My advice to scott_c2911: First, go back and re-read all documentation from SH3, GWX, and all mods you plan to use, including h.sie's patcher. Next, completely uninstall SH3. Delete any orphan files. Run a good registry cleaner. Then install SH3. Patch it to v1.4b if necessary. Test run. Install GWX v3.0. Install and run JSGME. Test run. Unzip and move all desired mods to the Mods folder which JSGME creates in your game folder. Activate these mods using JSGME. Test run after you activate each mod. Now follow the installation instructions for preparing Supplement to V16B1. Activate Supplement to V16B1 using JSGME. Everything should work fine. If not, please come back and we will try to help. |

Hey guys im fully aware of the GWX and v1.4b etc. i use jsgme to activate the hsies patch kit as the very last step in a long list of steps when reinstalling the game. I have read most of the material regarding GWX installation. I have had the usual ctds and corrupt careers but this problem is a new one for me. Ive done a bit of detective work over the last 12 hours. I believe it is due to a file called replay.tmp in the career folders being corrupted. The file size when i had the problem was 0kb. It is now since restarting again 1kb. Also when i deleted the career folders it would not let me remove that file either. I have 2 identical installs of the game one on a different harddrive as backup. I ran the game from there and i still had the problem so it isnt the actual game thats causing the problem. It is definitely in the career folder. The RAM issue that has been mentioned may cause the blue screen which then corrupts the replay.tmp file. Anyway its working again now but for how long?!
