A good read! Chatham docks are only 1/2 hour from me, so I really must get my finger out and stick my nose in there...

Great story. We've got an Oberon class permanently docked here as part of the maritime museum. Must go and visit it again.

It's a shame that we have no sub here, in Dundee, bearing in mind its status during WWII.

slightly off-topic, but it has just occurred to me that you lot, being such knowledgeable folk, might be able to help. Some time ago I got a book from the library for Best-Beloved to read and ended up reading it myself as well. It was about a young man in the UK who joined the Navy as a Diver, but ended up (and survived) doing bomb-disposal, with a small team in the guts of the ships in the Falklands war. Fascinating and very readable. Engaged me from the first page, and I seldom read books since the computer came into my life. I would like to know the title and author so I can recommend it to others, but it has entirely escaped me. Can you help?? If not I shall put a separate post on.. ps I tried Amazon but did not find it there.
