Default What factors can cause corrupted saves?

The thread title says it all.

I am in the middle of a patrol, and my latest three saves are all corrupt. As in when I load them the game crashes directly to desktop. The first several saves of the same patrol work fine. It is my understanding that save files get bigger as the patrol goes on, but I have only been at sea a few days.

I have tried disabling the journal, thinking that nav fix records might be fouling things up, i tried cranking the graphics way down, and the sound quality, but none of these help. Does saving while looking through a periscope or while on the map screen cause problems?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Have you enabled any new mod since the last three saves?

Hi Gap, and thanks for replying,

I have been using the exact same mods for the whole campaign. I am running fifi's mod list minus DBSM plus my own keybindings.

I tried disabling all the rendering via the TDW patcher, and that did not help either.

Could it have to do with the fact that I forgot to comment out the modding and debugging lines in the main.cfg file?
