Anybody willing to upload 20 Km (unofficial) mod for GWX? I found some old threads about it but links are dead... I want to try to reinstall SH3 after troubles with Win 7...

Go to Plissken's fileserver. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...171019&page=17 ALWAYS check Plissken's!

Steve, doesn't SH-5 Water for GWX 3.0 V0.9 20 Km require a 20 km atmosphere mod, like GWX_-_20km_Atmosphere_Unood, in order to actually provide a 20 km horizon? Or have I been misconceived?

I've used it since it came out, and I don't use any of the mods that come with GWX, just GWX itself. So no, it doesn't require anything else.

Then I guess I could use SH-5 Water for SH-3 Ultimate V84 20 Km with NYGM. Been using SH-5 Water for SH-3 Ultimate V84 16 Km 'cause NYGM has a 16 km horizon. Hoo, boy! More eye candy!

Not to drag this OT, but has anyone made a definitive choice between SH-5 Water 20km and MEP? I like them both, but find myself switching back and forth when I do mod adjustments.
These kinds of problems are hard. ![]() |

FWIW, I feel SH5 Water has the best-looking ocean available and use it exclusively for both GWX and NYGM. YMMV

I've never used MEP, so I can't judge. After I found SH5 Water I was happy enough that I didn't look at anything else. There is a newer version of SH5 Water that I tried and didn't like as much, but that's just me. We don't have it at Subsim Downloads yet, but Plissken might have it on his sight.

Is there a difference between MEP and SH5 water on the load that they put on the computer?

That's one of the things I've been trying to judge. Nothing has really jumped out at me. I've had incidences of lag at times, but I haven't been able to conclusively assign blame to either mod. I THINK MEP is a bit 'heavier'.

Just to throw in my 2 cents:
I'm currently using the latest MEP version; I think 4.2 is the latest. Makman did some excellent work integrating features from the unofficial patches. I've been extremely happy with it so far. I think the visual detection settings are done quite well and I think the environment is excellent. Its worth at least checking out the post in the MODS section anyway... http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=204929 T |
