Default 40 years on

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon was 40 years old earlier this year, it inspired Sir Tom Stoppard to write the play Darkside which features the album's instrumentals with Tom's dialogue over the top.

It will be aired on BBC Radio 2, Monday 26th August, I for one am looking forward to it.

Dark Side of the Moon hit the top of the charts on release, and stayed in the charts for 741 weeks, selling some 50 million copies (that's almost ten thousand copies per day for fifteen years! )

Pink Floyd is a top ten of mine. I have seen them perform in concert. Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. Love the music.

Geez, I was 8 when the Dark Side of the Moon was released. Animals is my favorite album.

I think Floyd are up there for most people, going by what people on here have said before.

As for favourite album! Don't make me choose, I mostly like A Saucerful of Secrets but The Wall will always have a special place in my heart as it was the first album of Floyd's I ever bought and listened to it every night whilst out of the UK on ops*.

*providing there was no local nightlife to be had.

Roger Waters is currently touring with The Wall, I doubt Nick Mason and Dave Gilmour are with him.

Fantastic album. This, and the instrumental intro and closure from Wish You Were Here, titled Shine On You Crazy Diamond Part 1+2. I edited them together in a smooth fade, and have them on a CD where they follow immediately after Dark Side, making it my personal Ultimate Pink Floyd album!

The early albums by Alan Parsons Project (PF's early sound engineer) also influenced me heavily. It were my mid and late highschool years.

Good times it were.

I was 19 when Dark Side of The Moon was released. I Immediately became a fan. I almost got locked up the day Wish You Were Here (my favorite) went on sale.
Picked the wrong place for the first listen. Eight track player in my car, pumping Floyd into a pair of 6x9 dual cones with 80 ounce magnets. Almost blew the cops' ear drums out when he shoved the cassette back in the player. Yeah, the buggah took our Redbud.

So, you're 63 now, Steve? IIRC, didn't you proclaim to be 96 in another thread?
