Hi all,
I found this site when I decided to give SHV a shot and enjoyed modding it because was easy enough for a dummy(novice) like me to do. However, I get bored with playing same game day-after-day. I, sometimes play 2-3 games a day. And when I came back, a week or so ago, to Sub-Sim to see what's new, I saw SH IV supported also. So, I played while I waited on new hard-disc to come and found out I wanted to play this, because ship sinking is much better than V. I just loaded and am ready to get a mod or 2, but I want to make sure I all set to roll. A lot information is 4-5 yrs old and confusing. Questions; 1). The disc I rec'd boots up with 1.5 showing as version. Is this all I need to proceed?? Because I have seen a Sub-Sim 1.2 talked about, but not sure what it's for. Do I need this and where is it?? 2). What are the top 2-3 mods people are using and are links for them still working? Also, is there UTUBE videos that show any of the mods and how they enhance SHIV?? ![]() Thnaks, Marshall Ney |

Looking at the views (46 in total) l I'd say look for other threads where ppl aks somewhat the same questions.
A lot MOD's only work with version 1.5 and if you want to try a MOD read the README (mostly included in the MOD DL) if your still uncertain you can ask in the appropriate tread and you'll most likely get a answer. If for some reason a specific DL link doesn't work you can always ask someone to share it with you or point you in the right direction. Most ppl use TMO 2.5 with RSRD or RFB with RSRD, some only use TMO 2.5 and some only RFB others like FOTRS yet others like OM or GFO, OTC is a must but doesn't work with all MOD's , some have a MOD soupe which is so off the main stream its not even worth metioning (just kidding guy's ![]() One things for sure practically everybody works with JSGME. MOD's are so player dependent you need to look for what you like best before you can make a decision. My suggestion before anything els...Look for earlier posts by ppl who regained interest in SHIV and start reading this forum then check out the SH4 Fleet Boat Mods Workshop and read some more. I know its a pain and not a quick answer but this way you have all the knowledge you'll need to ask the right questions. GL and don't give up!! |

2). What are the top 2-3 mods people are using and are links for them still working?[/QUOTE] Game Fixes Only. It fixes many of the problems in the game, without extra enhancements. Real Fleet Boat. It changes many things, making the AI perform much closer to historical values. Trigger Maru Overhauled. It also changes a great many things. The AI is somewhat more difficult than others, on the principle that having them historically perfect gives the gamer advanced knowledge of what the enemy is going to do. For the player who wants just a little extra. Fall Of The Rising Sun. Makes TMO just a little easier and adds its own campaign values. Run Silent, Run Deep Campaign. It's not a mod as such, and there are versions to work with different supermods. It changes the campaign structure itself so convoys and warship movements parallel history. Operation Monsun. Takes the u-boat side of the game and gives it a full campaign similar to that of SH3. I can't help with the videos since I've never watched them all.
