Default Here we go again!

For all that do not know, Portugal in the last decade had 4 governments! With the normal "political crisis". Three years ago (+/-) We had another political crisis with the state budget not being accepted and the the country going to the FMI and troika, etc. The government falls and we have a new government (the current one).
Yesterday the financial minister resigned, a new one got designated. Today, the leader of the 2º government party and current foreign minister/"vice-minister" resigned by not concur with the designation of the new finance minister.
And so, my country is on the verge of a government fall and new elections.
Well, here we go again!

The EU should be along shortly with some financial aid package...provided you sell them your souls and any future you thought you had

What future? This country is getting lower and lower, suprised that it didn't gone trough the planet and way in to space.
The PM said that he does not accept the minister resignation and also the government is secure and will not resign!
Since football has not began yet, this soap opera is the public entertainment!

"There is in a corner of Iberia a people who will not govern themselves nor will they let anyone do it for them." - Julius Caesar

I really need to find my way back to the shuttle craft.

I apologize for my rant, but I'm really tired of the puppet show.
And Oberon's advice seems to be spot on.

I don't think so. I haven't noticed anything significant in my neck of the hoods. Our VAT went through the roof across the board last year, which pretty much had the oposite effect of what our "think tanks" expected. Small businesses are struggling to make ends meet. Many small businesses went bankrupt.

If you're thinking of Algarve, I have no idea. I haven't read anything related in online news (I don't watch TV any more). My career and life have been destroyed, I can barely survive, so I haven't been to Algarve (or anywhere else) to notice anything relevant.
Home gas has gone up (ouch), which is bound to increase the cost of cooking.

The government has been taxing people beyond their income. They destroyed the economy so badly that they are actually collecting far less in taxes and spending far more in basic welfare. By killing GDP, debt as percentage has sky-rocketed. Their strategy makes as much sense as a man standing on a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle. The proverbial golden egg chicken comes to mind.

Internet is the only "luxury" I keep, as it's the best means of searching for a way out of my current situation. So far no luck. I have even started to look abroad. What bothers me is that I am *not* an unqualified professional. I have a diploma to prove it and I've proven my skills time and again.

Sorry. Needed to vent.

No problem, thanks for the frank and honest response.

I hope life gets better for you very soon
