I would not suggest it. Some, such as graphics or sound changes might work, but it's probably not worth the risk of breaking something with anything more involved.

Most mods must never be activated while the game is running. For instance, any mod changing the .UPC files will have serious problems if these changes are not actually made in the "SH4" folder (which they will IF the game is restarted after the changes are made). Just adding a mod with .UPC changes while the game is running will cause the game to not recognize the changes. When this happens, the game is more likely than not going to crash to desktop. Don't try fooling the game with unexpected changes.......you end up being the fool.
Also, the "SH4" folder is where the game keeps its saved game points. Never try playing a saved game point that didn't have the mod(s) that were running in the game at the time of saving. The game expects the same mod setup to still be in effect when returning to a saved game point. Changing/adding mods, then returning to a saved game that didn't have the same mods activated will cause problems too.

You should also avoid adding a mod while you are at sea.Even if you exit the game and then activate it will cause problems.Make sure that you are in port.If you have a career you want to keep going get to a port and end the current mission before adding a mod.
That is basically what CApnScurvy said. Honestly with a mega mod it is best to start brand new careers and scrap the old ones. |
