Once again windows 10 is crippled, and I am thinking of a restore/re-install. I can track what I have running through JGSME, but what do I need to backup for a re-install to resume where I am now? I'm running the latest OM.

Hi pod
Do not install your game in the program x86 folder. Make a new folder like SH4 You can install the game on any drive like X:\SH4 Your saved games will always default to C:\documents\SH4 When uninstalling SH4 from the control panel's, program and features you should have an option whether to keep your SH4 saved games folder. SH4 should run ok on OS10 if installed as above. If you have installed in the program x86 folder then that may be why you are having a problem. Run a registry cleaner after uninstalling (*) and then reboot your system before re-installing. (*) To totally clear out delete the Silent Hunter 4 main game folder. Set the Sh4.exe to run as administrator from the properties tab. Peter

A belated thanks to those who assisted in the past. I got a brief reprieve, but I guess I wasn't meant to play a career. Firing up today ready for some "Happy Time," I discovered none of my saved games will run. I've been saving as a regular habit due to previous issues, but even games I've started before and then saved after some action will not load. I've gone back 5 saves and they just won't run. I remember someone else having this problem some time ago. Was there ever a solution?

Well color me baffled. (please no "behind" references!) I got my game working again, using a lot of patience. I had to go back NINE saves to find one that worked!!!! Why so many back-ups? This same thing has happened before. I've learned to make continuous back-ups from departure to re-arrival in port, including saving right outside port. I've never had to go so deep into backed up games before. The non-working games straddled 3 days of saves. What in the world could have wacked games so far back? One possible co-incidence (to some one with the knowledge of 1's and 0's to look into it), both times this happened I had to go back to a game I saved before a port attack I made "because it was there." But why not an immediate crash? What could retro-actively cause games to become corrupted??

Can you do us a favor there podunkpete? Can you by chance remember any other details of how it happened? Do you happen to remember if you were using Time Compression when it happened? If so, how high of Time Compression did you use, if you can remember? What screen were you on? That kind of stuff. We're looking into issues of that nature in FotRS UE right now, and maybe it's applicable across the board...
