Default Trigger Maru 100% damage on load game

I tried looking on the forum for an answer to this glitch. Can't imagine I'm the first. I've downloaded and played the latest version of Trigger Maru overhaul with no problems for several days (excellent mod by the way!). However, on patrol number 4, I attacked a convoy. Still submerged and a safe distance from the destroyers, I saved the game and exited to windows. No hull damage, no ongoing repairs. Next day, I load my saved game, and it starts me off at 100% hull damage and bulkheads destroyed. I'm running silent at 230 feet so in a few seconds, my boat implodes. Anyone else encountered this problem and any solutions besides starting my career over? Thanks in advance.

Even if it doesn't happens as much as in SH5, best is to save when not underwater...even in SH4.
I saw that once when saving underwater, but had less than 100% damage though.
Since then, i try to always save surfaced!

if you are going to save when under water do it at periscope depth and not in shallow water.

when your sub spawns it is randomly placed in a general location and spasms up and down until the game decides the depth to put it at so it can hit the bottom or nearby objects. this is why you should make sure you have a zone of safety around you when saving. also saving on the surface prevents most of this up and down fluctuation which is why its the best recommend position to save in but you still don't want to save in shallow water even on the surface.

Default Now that I'm in the bear trap...

Thanks for the responses. I will keep those in mind for the future. Now that I've put my foot in the bear trap so to speak, is there any file editing I can do to get out. While the problem emerged randomly, simply exiting (without saving under the new conditions) and then reloading doesn't help. When I try this, I'm simply reloaded right at 100%. It's a great career, I'd hate to abandon it.

To summarize what the others have said, this is the infamous "submerged save" bug left over in the code from SH3. It is hard coded in the engine and has nothing to do with TMO or any other mod. The 100% damage bug can happen to any save regardless of depth. Never save the game submerged. It is too risky and the chances of broken saves and broken careers are rather high. Depending on how many saves you have, you may have no choice but to abandon the patrol or career because there is no resolution to this bug.

"Never save game when submerged.." I've done it many times without a problem so I wouldn't say never do it. If it is indeed a hard coded left over from SH3 it must be a random event.
The game certainly suffers from some sort of "save game" problem which no one seems to have uncovered. Too avoid the agony of losing a career I save a lot so I can at least recover somewhere.
Just my opinion.
