Hey guys...i didn't have much luck with my last query but maybe someone can help me out with this.
I'm trying to install the chart addon by sublynx and i've followed his installation procedures down to the last full stop but for some reason when i try and run sh3 it won't start...The loading bar gets halfway and then just stops. The readme that comes with the mod mentions having GWX and MaGui F .. I only run MaGui F because my system can't handle GWX. Could that be the problem as in you HAVE to have GWX and Magui F for it to work? Otherwise i've edited the menu.ini and renumbered it using H.sie's renumbering tool and checked the ini file to make sure it has renumbered as it should and everything is ok there. Can anyone help with ideas to try or can anyone tell me if it's my lack of GWX thats the problem?

lol..if it isn't one thing then it's another.
Ok, the chart addon mod works well now ............... apart from the fact that in both attack and observation scope mode the drop down aob chart covers the raising and lowering switch plus the lock on swith...I'm using MaGui F so these switches are at the top of the screen. I thought the mod had been made with that gui in mind!!! .. and whats worse for some reason the keyboard commands won't work for the attack scopes while the drop down is on screen and for the observation scope they don't work at all despite the drop down not being visible. Anyway it seems my only choice is to either not use the mod or to edit the menu.ini so that the drop down or slide out pic doesn't cover the controls. I'm no computer savvy so if someone could help me the values i need to change in the positioning lines of the ini file that would be great....I need a couple of centimeters free at the top of the screen so that i can use the scope control and lock on control. Here's how the relevant passages in the ini file look now and i'm assuming i would have to edit the "Pos" lines to move the aobpic that either slides out or drops down (can't figure out exactly whether it drops down or slides out as it appears instantly as soon as my mouse cursor gets to the top of the screen) away from the top of the screen [G26 I6] Name=aobslide Type=1026 ItemID=0x2620F005 ParentID=0x26000000 Pos=1,768,770,800;Pos=386,760,1050,1050 VertSlide=768 [G26 I7] Name=aobslide Type=1031;Stat bmp array ItemID=0x2620F006 ParentID=0x2620F005 Pos=-1,0,785,655 Color=0xFFFFFFFF Materials=1 Display=0;No stretch Mat 0=data/Menu/Gui/Layout/aobpics.tga MatFlags=0x29 TexFmt=0x9 BmpState=1

Yes, I sussed that problem out but as i've stated below i now have another problem.
I've worked a work around which is basically deleting those 2 entries in the menu.ini file and renumbering it...I now have all the other charts just not the aob chart. Although if there's anyone out there who knows how i can reintroduce those 2 entries and still have a functioning attack scope (don't really use the obs scope so that doesn't really matter) then that would be great. Any takers??

Do make sure that you use the latest version of my mod. The first version of it was a bit of beta version and had some careless mistakes for example in the folder structure that you noticed and if I remember correctly I also had to make an adjustment to a screen that had a problem of a chart covering an important switch. (Don't remember exactly what the change was anymore
![]() The way I use AOB chart is that I look at the ship in the periscope, memorize what it looks like, then move the mouse to the area that makes the chart slide out, make a mental comparison and then move the mouse again to make the chart disappear. I understand that you want to keep the chart on screen and still be able to use the switches? It's possible, but taking the chart lower on screen could possibly hide other switches on the lower part of the screen as this chart is really a big one. Maybe try a Pos line of 1, 758, 770, 800 in [G26 I6] and see if that helps. The second number is the one you need to fiddle with. If the chart is too big you could also make it smaller. Scudder has recently released a Big Unofficial Guide to menu_1024_768.ini that tells what the different commands do. The guide can be found in downloads section and in SH3 mod workshop. Interesting that you got the mod working without GWX ![]()

Hi Sublynx and thanks for your valuable input.
I'm not sure which version i have as there's no version number but i downloaded it from the download section and i can remember written in the listing that for those that had downloaded it before the 22.01.13 there's was some problems but that those problems had been fixed now.....So i'm kinda assuming i have the newest version although the fact that the file directory was wrong (as you also mentioned) maybe suggests i indeed have the beta version.....There's only one download of this in the download section...Is the newest version somewhere else? Yes...i don't have GWX and yet your mod works well for me.......that is all apart from the aob chart appearing and covering the periscorpe up/down switch and lock on switch as soon as my mouse approaches them. I think i'll try your suggestion with the pos line entry and if that doesn't work out i'll try scudders guide and see if i can make the chart smaller. Thanks again for your time sublynx ![]()

Excellent....your suggestion with altering the value on pos line worked...I've now brought the chart far enough down to be able to access the up down control and the lock on switch
![]() I got the idea while i was looking at the chart that it could be smaller so i got the simple idea of simply changing the size of the aobpics.tga.....While i was looking at it's size i immedialty saw that it was 785 x 665 pixels which coincided with the value on the pos line in G26 I7. So i've simply resized the pic using gimp to a size i find more useful, noted the new pixel dimensions and replaced the value in G26 I7 to match those new dimensions, saved and reloaded the mod and voila, it works just great...excellent stuff ![]()

Great to hear that you got it working the way you like it
![]() It sounds like you should have the latest version so I'm kind of baffled that the file structure was still wrong ![]()

Come to think of it maybe I should change the pic smaller too, when I got the time. It would be nice to see a screenshot of the solution you worked out

Hi sublynx .. As you can see the up down control, lock on and fire switch are all at the top of the screen in Magui F and unfortunately your aob chart covered the whole of that region, which wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't popup as soon as my mouse approached that area (meaning i actually couldn't access those controls).
So all i've done is move the chart down and made it a bit smaller. [G26 I6] Name=aobslide Type=1026 ItemID=0x2620F005 ParentID=0x26000000 Pos=1,650,770,800;Pos=386,760,1050,1050 VertSlide=768 [G26 I7] Name=aobslide Type=1031;Stat bmp array ItemID=0x2620F006 ParentID=0x2620F005 Pos=-1,0,550,458 Color=0xFFFFFFFF Materials=1 Display=0;No stretch Mat 0=data/Menu/Gui/Layout/aobpics.tga MatFlags=0x29 TexFmt=0x9 BmpState=1 ![]()

It does look a lot better than my original version and the smaller size makes no difference at all in estimating aob

Absolutely not. I'm glad to be able to contribute even though it's in a very small capacity
