A true Canadian original and a legend.
When I first 'escaped' to Toronto in the early 70's I stayed with my Aunt and Uncle for a while. One night they took me to The Horseshoe Tavern to see Connors. As a long haired rock and blues lover, I had no idea who he was. We sat three feet from the stage and the wood chips from his plywood stompin' board would fly up on our table. After his set my Uncle bought him a beer and he sat with us for a while. I was thinking, who is this cowboy? Later in life I came to have a great appreciation for Tom, his unique music and his fierce Canadian pride. You can't go to a hockey game in this country without hearing this song. Rest in Peace Tom.

I swilled many a pint in the Horseshoe.
My favourite Stompin Tom song.
