Default How to lower bearing erorr?

Hello I herd that you should not fire at another ship unless it's bearing error is %2 or less. How do I lower it ?

Track the target for a while like I told you. Use your sensors and try to get a better fix on the target.

Use the Towed Array, ESM, Sonar, Periscope, etc....But NOT the Radar.

Hope you hit your target sometime soon!

Getting the towed array and hull or bow sonar merged into one contact helps to achieve very accurate TMA, because the lines cross where the target is. This works provided that the contact is not ahead or behind you. It works best on your sides. And with towed array streamed as far as possible. (though streamed to a 3rd usually suffices)

If you have only one kind of sensor to provide the lines of bearing, then the trick is to force the bearing rate of it to vary or change as much as possible. Then the dots are spaced more irregular, except only in the contact's actual location. This can be done by changing speeds, and/or by changing the angle between bearing and own course. Changing course to the opposite side of the bearing makes TMA the easiest, but can also give your opponent a limit of the range you might be at. I can't remember exactly how this works. The gist of it was that the sequence of lines seem to cross near you. So he might be quicker to send a snaking torpedo to you on snapshot, with enable range set to the crossings, than you can line up the TMA ruler.

[Note to self: brush up on tma]

An important way to get a bearing/course of your target is to point one of your sensors that can pick it up towards it. Then zig zag perpendicular to the target. The wider your zig zag, the better. Over time, triangulation will build up a fairly clear picture of where the target is.
