New tracers will be included in the mod I, Rongel and Volodya are currently working on. I didn't start tweaking the tracers though, since I plan to create totally new, gun specific, shells definition. Each of the new shells may be provided with a tracer or not, based on historical specs and typical gun outfits. Tracer/igniferous shells will be assigned contrail fx of different colour and duration, again based on type of tracer charges historically used with tose shells Please post in the Historical Guns Specifications thread any useful information you might have on tracer/igniferous charges used during WWII. ![]() |

Original WWII footage of USAF P47 fighter-bomber in action:
It clearly shows that tracer ammunition used with their guns was either of a very pale shade of purple, almost white (RGB vaues deduced from a screen capture at 0:21 sec: 189 189 208 to 193 169 195), or pale pink (228 199 179 at 0:25 sec). The color recorded on film might have been greatly affected by many factors, though as ambient luminosity, background color, type film and film degradation, etc. Is there anyone who can share any related video/picture? ![]() |

Also yellow Trev. Hard to tell what color they were from black and white film footage from gun camera. Thankfully they used some color film towards the end of the war. Green was usually from the enemy guns. Red and yellow from the Allies' guns... maybe even white too.

here are a few similar discussions hosted in various gaming forums, mostly about tracer bullets used by WWI and WWII Air forces:
