Default [Q]S-class

I have a question about S-class upgrades
1.When can i get S-42 in career mode?
2.Im in september 1942 commanding a S-18 class and i got an SJ radar upgrade and improved radar, now when do i get aa gun?
3.Is it me or rescuing survivors in s-18 class is difficult? i mean survivor roams almost faster than my sub
4.Whats the difference between s-18 and s-42,i know that s-18 got "pod" or whatever is called for aa gun and s-42 got on aft?? forward aa gun
Does any mod exist to add smaller subs to game.I know that i finded long ago an i think a P class submarine (english sub) and cant find it.I love small subs like S-class

You can't. There is no upgrade to an S-42. You have to start in one to use it. When you do upgrade, you're given a much better boat.

If you hang on to one long enough, maybe mid-war.

Never done it so I don't know.

In real life, a few dozen tons displacement and a few feet in length. In an unmodded game, nothing.

Thanks for the answers,i really like S class, saved me tons of times and i think that i got the best hit ratio on this sub(tried salmon and porpoise).2 things i realy hate is low torpedoes and speed,i was rescueing a survivor and wind took it out on the open and i needed almost an half of hour (real time) to catch im up..flank speed: 13knots

Because it's a little bit bigger shell, the 4 inch gun does a little bit more damage than the 3 inch gun.
