Playing with TMO 2.5 on a Steam copy of SH4+Wolves - has been rock solid up to this point. I have USS Tambor, in to Fremantle late-mid 1942 with 48% damage (surface gunfight to get rid of some convoy escorts). Had 5" deck gun from my previous and first docking in Australia, as well as improved SD radar, SJ radar, paint job, etc. Post refit (removed periscope shear plating and AA gun fairwater) I have a factory-stock USS Tambor and worst of all no option to put that lovely 5" rifle back on my deck. Is this expected due to damage accrued or possibly something buggy?
The only time previously I have lost all upgrades like this was years ago playing stock, went back to base with 80%+ damage and hull failure at 50 feet, and was told that my boat was unrepairably shot up and given another. Not the case here. |

It looks like you've encountered the "stern deck gun bug". Check out the TMO documentation to see if it applies.

It happened to me too, probably a bug in tmo 2.5. I upgraded all again but in the next patrol with a salmon class the sub had no radar and no radar antenna, but sj radar was equiped in port, i had to load a previous game and remove the refit entry from NSS_Salmon.eqp (Conning tower 2).

You appear to be right about it being the stern deck gun bug. Editing out the upgrades like you pointed out doesn't seem to change anything. I'm toying around with attempting to edit the gun and slots back into a the ActiveUserPlayerUnits.upc but having mixed results - I can fully replace it with the one from the last patrol and it seems to carry over properly but that loses all crew improvement over the same time period. Likely not a major concern seeing as it wasn't a phenomenal patrol but still somewhat frustrating over time.
Something that might help - I was originally Pac Fleet but was transferred mid-campaign (when I was almost home to Pearl, actually - argh!) to Fremantle. Any advice on the best way to achieve or create a transfer back to Pearl and pick up a Gato? |

I received the same update you say about periscope to reduce sillouete but with the Salmon class sub. In case we encountered the same issue or bug, which seems to be very similar you followed this steps correctly?
If you have a saved patrol before the refit, then you can modify the NSS_Tambor.eqp in your case, removing the upgrade. Then you start the game and load the patrol, and play it again and at the end the upgrade is supposed to not take place this time. I loose the upgrade but i didn't want to go patrol again without radar. I hope this helps. Sorry for my english. |

I did save a game before the refit, but modifying the tambor.eqp has no effect on the glitch once I reach home and I still get the upgrade notice. I'm going to jump in and try a few different things to see where it gets me and will report back.

I've gotten the same bug too on a Tambor refit about 8 patrols in, mid 1943.
Not only does it seem to lose your upgrades, but try getting your men actually onto the deck gun. For me, my men didn't even accept that a deck gun exists anymore, even though it was clearly there. ![]()
