Hi Everyone,
I have been been attacked while snorkeling lately. I am sure that it is part of the time in the war, and enemy aircraft's ability to either spot it or use the radar to find it. The unfortunate thing is that when I get attacked and my u-boat takes damage, I have to hope I am watching my screen as the time compression does not change. ![]() Thanx in advance! |

I haven't managed to get snorkel yet myself, so I can't help.
Doesn't anyone have a hint on this problem? I think this is a big problem and what's worse, it's totally unrealistic for a boat to just continue it's voyage with a high TC while being attacked. Maybe posting the question in SH3 forum would help here?

Actually, you are right about this.
![]() ![]() Originally, I was just going to let the thread die, since I had found some ideas by searching in the general questions forum. But I'll go ahead and post with an answer to my own question, since someone else at least is interested. Apparently, I have been using my schnorchel too much, e.g. I have been spending a lot of time with it up while traversing long distances at night. It appears that gamewise (and possibly IRL, though I haven't confirmed it by reading any sources) that the best option is to use the schnorchel just to replenish O2 in the boat and only to recharge the batteries. Otherwise you should be on electrics. Then it seems the other part is to reduce time compression while schnorchelling during these shorter periods in order to have sufficient time to react to any attacks. ![]() Hope this helps and good luck! ![]() |

It looks like you have sorted out the problem yourself. It seems that using the schnorkel for recharging was also the historical procedure:
http://www.uboatarchive.net/BDUOrder1.htm According to BdU's orders schnorkeling was to be done in conditions unsuitable for airplanes, when possible. Anyways I'm glad I now know what to do with the schnorkel, if I get it one day ![]()
