Immigration - someone got it right.

Its not often that you see me praise someone on the "other side of the aisle" from me politically - but I have to send out a to Sen. McCaskill (D) for taking the time to meet with, and work for - Lauren Gray.

http://www.kansascity.com/2012/08/08...r-british.html

Its nice to see someone in government actually get something right. Illegal immigration is a problem - those who follow the rules should not be penalized.

Well Done, Senator McCaskill.

Its a non immigrant visa, the rules state she should leave as she becomes an illegal immigrant when the visa no longer covers her residency in the States.
Haplos arguement amounts to supporting amnesty for people who overstay their visas.

She passed the "you must be no darker than this shade of brown to receive preferential immigration treatment" test. The fact she was a hot blonde in addition is what sealed the deal.

So do you have any actual substance to back up your racism charges or is this just another example of Democrat class warfare lies?

Just a joke you say eh? What's so funny about accusing people of racism and sexism?

Plenty, if you do it right. Go have a cup of coffee or something.

She'd lived there that long, from such a young age - at last common sense prevailed within a government!

I am sure that is supposed to make sense somehow.

BFD. Frankly if it were up to me, id deport every single foreign national that originates from the other side of our southern border AND their anchor baby' too.

That's how I feel, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Sigh....

Maybe that was meant as a joke. Had I said the same I would be roasted. Still, I will address it because even if it was a joke, someone might consider it an accurate reason for arguing for amnesty.

My point is that "preferential immigration treatment" needs to be for those who, like this young lady, have been working WITHIN the system and doing everything legally the whole time. 9 years they have been trying to get her green card - and they were/are still waiting - while millions of illegals from all over the world have come here and been given blanket amnesty. If anything - those who have played by the rules are the ones we should be willing to make allowances for. It is not their fault our legal immigration system is flawed. That is why I applaud Sen. McCaskill for this.

Never going to happen. THe only thing we can do is deport illegals, and frankly is the only thing we SHOULD do. Then reform immigration laws to be more lenient, and not allow the ridiculous backup of green cards and psychoanalyzation before you can get a green card. Problems solved. They get their citizenship, not VERY quickly, 1-2 years, and we deport any who still wish to break immigration laws.

The only practical course of going about this issue is putting some serious manpower on the borders, giving illegals already here 2-3 years to get a green card, and reform immigration to allow LEGAL immigration to be practical. And during all that, Enforce the laws as strongly and unrelenting as we should have in the first place. We have many people from europe or india who are also affected by the absurd waiting time and scrutiny of immigration standards.

I think we're all missing the point here. *She was technically an illegal under a stupid loophole in the visa laws she arrived under. *Her parents get to stay indefinitely, but she doesn't? *The laws should have been written to include children of investors receiving this visa. *

This family has contributed more to the US then most naturally born citizens. *They created a business and employed a good amount of people. *But because their children were not named as investors, they get deported when they come of age? * Ridiculous. *

Not really, an adult is different which is why there are differnt rules on the visa.

If I had an investor residency visa and moved over should any adult children I had be given residency too?

Have they? a few of the locals comments in the local paper seem to suggest otherwise.

The only thing that is ridiculous is that it took 9 years and still the paperwork wasn't done.
Which raises another question. Would it have been simpler if the parents had at some time in the past 17 years taken the steps to change their own status instead of keeping on the two year renewable cycle?
