If you are in the middle of a storm with rain and need to save the game, when you reload the save, it's still raining but your guys have no raingear. I know in SH3 all you needed to do was drag the crew below, and bring them topside again. It's more complicated in SH4 because when you ask for a weather report, it states "heavy overcast, poor visibility, NO PRECIP" That's where the problem comes in. The game says it's not raining, even though it clearly is. No rain= no raingear.

Well, it's nice and toasty on the Pacific, so they can hang around in tee shirts and shorts just fine.

Sometimes I save in a storm with rain, come back and it's clear and calm. Once that happened as I was approaching a convoy, something came up and I had to save in fog, rain, heavy seas....came back and it was clear and calm, they blew me out of the water before I had a chance to dive.

Yeah, when they do that, i.e., hangin' in the rain without their gear, we pass out the bars of soap! Keeps the stench down below decks.

I have had Donna's experience before ... middle of a monsoon, save it, come back later, clear as a bell and getting fired at.

Which is why I never save a game with known enemy ships with in 15 miles of my boat's position.

![]() Post save-game surprises aside, the game weather leaves a lot to be desired. The weather just isn't what it should be. I'd like there to be real storms that actually compromise your boat, once in a while. |

Define compromised by weather.
Unless it is a huge Typhoon that is lasting in the same area your traversing for days, most storms bad enough to hurt the boat can be rode out by going deep and ahead slow. Even deep you can feel a few things but it is much safer under the water than on the surface. |

This is my point. In RL you would have to take action to protect your boat or minimize your difficulties; in the game you just cruise through it. It's no big deal. |

some issues, no damage, but the boat slowed down about 5 kts, attacking with the scope was about impossible, you couldn't see over the waves, cept bits and pieces. Sometimes the boat would go under, submerge so to speak, but only due to going under, which also cut speed. I gave up, because having typhoon waves under blue skies seems silly, if only some way to connect waves to storms, just can't be done... |

![]() It's too bad that it can't be integrated into the game properly. A 5 kt. loss is more that I've ever experienced in RFB. Realistic weather and storms would bring the game up a notch. |
