Default Enforced abortions in China

I know there is a 1-child-policy in China, and I know they also enforce abortion in case of violations.

What I did not know is to what developement state of the fetus they still abort.

7th (seventh) month.

Well, that shocked me.

I am not sentimental about abortion. When there is no nervous system and no sensors and no brain to compute incoming signals, there is no perception then, no awareness, no personality, no human identity. There is nothing human in a glibbery bunch of cells. A shapeless cellular clump that still needs differentiation of typical functional cell specialisations, is no human being. Nor is it the semen of the father or the egg of the mother. There also is no potential messiah in any of these. No genius. No second Mozart or Beethoven.

Organisms require differentiated cells organised on a certain, suffient, often hierarchical level of minimum organisation and structure.

7th month, gee - there are early births given to babies that live. This is state-ruled murder for sure.

I considered for some seconds the needs to enforce the law and not to allow exceptions. And then remembered that a static 1 child policy like in China brings other problems, like massive distortions in the age structure of society. But that may be like it is - aborting a healthy 7 month old fetus still is murder, killing of a developed, receptive, alreadey emotional, sensually feeling human being. Mentioned considerations have no defending value here.

There are many great cultural things that are to be lonked with China. But also a level of barbarism and anti-human insensitivity that puts much of that into question.

Yes, we need a to-be-developed form of dynamic, adaptive birth control to learn to keep global population size at a much lower and relatively stabile level. Yes, we need to bring down global population to around 1 - 1.5 billion, I think. Yes, I defend the freedom of abortion before a certain developement stage of the embryo. Yes, I think militant abortion-protesters and religious hysterics even claiming the right to kill people who abort or help in that, are illustrative for the discouraging lows human beings can degenerate to.

But without medical indication killing a 7 month old human - that is murder. Simply legalised murder. You could as well have courts ordering the execution of spouses and offsprings to teach the criminal offender a lesson. As long as not living under martial law, we would consider that to be barbaric. And it is, in peacetimes. So is the behaviour of China in this issue.

Horrible stuff , but with the population growing at its current rate, I wont be surprised if this kind thing starts to catch on.
Not saying I agree with chinas policies, but over population is bad news for any nation and If we (humans) breed like rats we will end up living like them too.
Something will have to give eventually.
