Hi, all. I've a qustion - which file contains the distribution of the crew members on the sub? I mean where is it written that there will be 2 sailors in the radio room, 3 officers and 3 sailors in the comanding room, etc.? Is it hardcoded?

Anvart, thanx, but that is not the answer. The reason is my bad english i think... What i'm looking for is the crew layout of the sub types as i think (with GWX installed i have the same layout for all subs of the same type exept for crew related to deck & flak guns) - may be radio & control rooms are not the best for the question... Where is it written that type II has 1 off and 6 sailors in the diesel room, type VII - 1 & 8, type IX - 1 & 8, type XXI - 1 & 10 ? I mean the layout we see on the barracs and crew management screens...

Hi Consigliere,
have a look into the "Crew_Config_xx_x.cfg" you can find in the folder "data/Cfg". Within these files you can change the crew/compartment where they are. It is a little bit difficult, but it works. On the other side - press key "F7 Crew & Damage Management" and manage your crew before you start a patrol or single mission. Greetings rowi58 |

Yeah, rowi58. I know of these files. I do not use an SH3Commander and have a very good crew layout for my type XXI sub

Ok guys... Let's start from the beginning.
The following figures are from GWX Gold (not sure they match the stock SH3, may be the GWX developers have found the way to alter the values i'm talking about). The max (minimum depends on your own wish to place a sailor in a given position and your overall crew) number of sailors and peties in a compartments are as follows: SubType II VII IX XXI 0_Tower 4 4 4 4 1_Radio 2 2 2 2 2_Contr 3 3 3 3 3_Diesel 6 8 8 10 4_Electr 6 8 8 10 5_BowT 10 14 14 12 6_BowQ 14 16 16 16 7_StQ 6 8 12 16 8_StT - 6 8 - 9_DeckG - * 3 - 10_FlakG * * * 2 11_Rep 8 haven't figured out yet on 3 types * these values depends on the coning tower installed The lines in the basic.cfg file mentioned by Anvart and the Crew_Config files mentioned by rowi58 deals with the current crew of the sub. Not its crew layout. As i do remeber my previous attempts the Crew_Config file does not allow you to place 5 sailors (not talking about WO position) on a conning tower... As i do understand the graphic for the crew layout (the grey sailor icon on which you drag a sailor to place him in that location) is established in the menu_1024_768.ini file... But i'm not talking about the graphical side as i do not think that altering a texture layout will allow you to place additional sailor or to place less sailors than you can... So the qustion was: have somebody tried to alter those max values of crew members in a given compartment of a sub of a given type (have somebody found the file (the line in a file) which stores those values) or they are hardcoded in the game's exe... Of course i do know how to place a sailor in a position from the game (F7) and from the outside (Crew_Config file)... But after all that is a modding forum and not a walkthrough... No, Anvart... My [COMPARTMENT] section have the following values:
NumberOfCrew0=15_tower max is 4+1 NumberOfCrew1=6_RadioRoom is always 2+0 NumberOfCrew2=9_ContrRoom is always 3+3 NumberOfCrew3=12_DiesEng may be 6+1 to 10+1 NumberOfCrew4=8_ElectrEng may be 6+1 to 10+1 NumberOfCrew5=10_BowT may be 10+1 to 14+1 NumberOfCrew6=7_BowQ may be 14+1 to 16+1 NumberOfCrew7=5_SternQ may be 6+1 to 16+1 NumberOfCrew8=3 SternT may be 0+0 to 8+1 NumberOfCrew9=4_DeckGun may be 0+0 to 3+0 NumberOfCrew10=14_FlackGun may be 1+0 to 6+0 NumberOfCrew11=2_RepairTeam may be 8+1 to 12+1 NumberOfCrew12=1_Don't even know what is this compartment for... So, this section doesn't have anything with the crew layout... The question remains... And to the Crew_Config files... each one contains 120 positions though the maximum number of crew (on any sub of any type) is 10 officers and 104 sailors/peties (if we will just add max numbers to each other which is not possible in the game)... so 114. Who are those 6 remaining positions??? To absolutely simplify the main question of the thread - is it possible to have an officer in the radio room just altering the graphics in menu.ini? And to futher disclose the subject of hardcoded values: a) is it possible to have two M, more than two A or more than three S nodes on a single sub? b) is it possible to introduce sub type 4 in to the game?
