Thank You Steam
Yesterday I fired up SH5 to get back in action. At the start Steam does an update. I think "Ok, must be something needed to run SH5, or a patch that's needed." Everything starts to load as normal until SH5 statrts to load. It loads 3/4ths of the way... game loading bar.... and then it all shuts down to the Steam screen. No can Play at all. I've tried to load several times and the same thing happens over and over again.
![]() Anyone else having this happening too? Is there a fix or must I reinstall SH5? Is there any legal way to play SH5 without Steam and it's interfering with SH5? I'm getting very tired of this crap with UBI and Steam for a legally bought DVD of SH5.

Open steam, go to your library, select "Installed games". Look at your list, select Sh5.
Right click-> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of game files Steam isn't really that bad. Its acutally quite good once you understand it. Ubi's Uplay, and EA's Origin is what sucks. Sad to say, DRMs are here to stay. The problem we as PC gamers are running into now, is that all the other big names in the industry are finally jumping on the steam bandwagon with steam wannabe DRMs - which means in the case of ANY (newer) game from Ubi or EA that you purchase on steam, your going to have double the DRM. Uplay and steam running at the same time. Personally i hate that. Id rather have just ONE go to DRM that isn't over the top on intrusion and doesn't have a high footprint, which by way of comparison is steam. Uplay and Origin are not very low footprint. Espeically Origin. I wish a fire death upon Uplay and Origin only because i hate multiple DRMs. Long story short, do your homework. If the game has is saddled with a steam clone like Uplay or Origin, buy the game from them directly (either through their DRM or get the disk) and install their BS DRM and live with a situation of either This DRM OR that DRM, as opposed to this DRM AND that DRM which is what your in now. Or...... don't buy the game at all. Which is what im opt to do. I won't install Uplay, Origin and steam in combination on my computer. Steam id support, but Uplay and Origin can kiss my ass. |

Duc, I never even thought of that. Will check it now. Thanks mate.
![]() I agree 100% with you on that. I've got a few games that only play thru Steam, not my idea of fun but what can ya do. It seems that more and more it's becoming a necessary evil with no way out. I now know why a lot of people only run those console games. Not my idea of good gaming but that's just me I guess. I'll stay with PCs as long as I'm able. Edit: Just checked and SH5 isn't even in the Library list now. WTF! I've done nothing to delete it from my computer or Steam. Other games I used to play, but no longer do are still there. It's like SH5 wasn't even installed.

...on a side note, DRM was removed a long time ago......
You can play without internet connection, you only need it once when installing / registering..... UBI removes DRM http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=189245

SH5 is still saddled with DRM. All they removed is the constant online connection requirement. You still have to have an initial login through Uplay. That's the DRM, they just finally got around to adding an Offline mode.

Hello
I've had a problem with steam and I believe I've solved it renaming the file clientregistry.blob in the steam file. The problem occurs when the steam client updates during the loading of a game. You have en explanation here... https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...7241-EYON-2343 Hope this helps. @@++ |

I gave up and I'm going to reinstall SH5. At least I'll be able to get TDW's mods installed correctly so they work properly.
Thanks for the help guys.

I've gottten SH5 reinstalled. A few mods added so far with more to come asap. I still have my saves which is the one and only good thing about Steam. One bad thing was I couldn't find SH5 on my HDD without doing a search. Once found I could add JSGME and my mod folder back in. A shortcut was maded so the next time I know exactly where it is. LOL
Now to test it and see if all is well.
