I doubt it. You need to download CapnScurvy's new OTC mod for TMO or for RSRDC if you are also using that mod. It comes with a built in omnimeter that allows you to calculate range and AOB through the scope graticules.

Thanks,Dignan
Do you have a link to print the omnimeter,so I can do it by hand? |

The stock game/TMO/RFB etc. have telemeter divisions that are not "scaled" to accurately measure a thing. To get an accurate measurement, the field-of-view (the width and height of the scope lens view) must be set to a degree width that is in the same scale as the number of telemeter divisions printed on the lens. The number of degrees the lens covers (from left to right, up and down) determines the number of telemeter divisions should be on the scope. It's necessary to know that at 1000 yards distance, one degree of angle covers 52.5 feet in distance. To have the correct and authentic FoV "in scale" with the telemeter divisions, you need to make sure the games view is set to this same measurement. That's what Optical Targeting Correction does. It sync's both scope lens and FoV sizes to the authentic dimensions, and makes sure a tool like the Range Omnimeter works correctly with the two. Here's a thread that has several images of the Omnimeter that's in the USS Cod museum. Gino, used to volunteer there and had access to the device. I made a hand held version myself trying it out from the images. None of the images are at a direct perpendicular to the device, so there was just a bit of miss scaling with the calculating. But, really it worked pretty well. There was one thing I noticed with it though which I found interesting. Take a close look at the triangle set point of the "Telemeter Scale Reading" slider. Notice the small "tick" mark to the right of the triangle? After, I scaled authentically the game lens, to the game FoV, this additional tick mark produced a better more accurate measurement in finding range than the original triangle mark. I'm assuming the crew found the same thing when they used it. The original mark was placed "off center" a bit from what it should have been (these things were hand made by the engineer crew). So, someone moved the set mark to what they determined was the correct setting for calculating accurate range. ![]() So much for the idea the crews accepted inaccurate range finding as a normal way of making a firing solution!

Also, you won't need to print the Omnimeter. CapnScurvy included a pull out tab in game with a functioning version of it. EDIT: On second thought, I think you do need to put OTC after RSRD and you will also need to download the RSRDC version of OTC. The one you've listed is only used if you are running TMO and not RSRDC.

@ hcs53, I didn't see where you listed the game resolution you're using? After loading up the TMO 2.5 mod; RSRDCv502 and it's patch; then load "1.5_Optical Targeting Correction 031312 for RSRDCv502". To correct an Aspect Ratio other than the native 4:3 ratio (this is already in place with the above OTC mod), you will need to load one of the other optional "Aspect Ratio" mods that's included in the main download. Take your pick between the standard scopes or the realistic scope mods. Both groups are scaled to fit the aspect ratio a gamers system may use. That's important because each resolution/aspect ratio can have a different scaled FoV to make an accurate telemeter reading.

I use the game resolution 1920x1080.
I disabled the realistic scope,I have better markings now. |

![]() The differences between the standard OTC scopes compared to the OTC realistic scopes is the standard scope has fractional telemeter divisions between the regular divisions. The realistic scopes don't have the fractional marks. Fractional divisions aren't authentic. The standard scopes have moved the telemeter divisions to the center line of the scope in an effort to keep the scopes compass bearing centered on the target as you take a measurement. The realistic scopes have the telemeter divisions in the authentic left hand position of the lens. The standard scopes use the basic stock TBT view, although the divisions are scaled to the correct FoV. The outline looks like the Lone Rangers mask (OK, I'm dating myself!), kind of a throw back to the days the movies thought a binocular view had to have a double circle outline when you looked through the lens. The realistic scopes use a rounded view similar to the periscope view to simulate what the view really looked like. Just a bit of "cosmetic" differences between the two. All have their divisions lightened for easier viewing at night. Choose the one you like best. ![]()
