Default Hull Integrity

I just started out of Kiel and before I got out of the canal to enter the North Sea I notice my Hull Integrity was 79%. There were no reports I hit anything.

I have been thru this three times if you hit or scrape canal walls ,land or ships .Your gonna just hear the sounds, with no reports! Then after going to subsystems you see Hull Integrity.I have gone back to home port and did a refit but got no Hull repairs,I been told you have end patrol ,because you have to dry dock to get hull repairs.(makes sense). My problem was end patrol did not highlight up after mouse over??? So I went back out after refit but hit a ship and sunk.... Any more help would be appreciated it.....

I don't know if I hit anything, I had time compression on, it was set at x32 when I was going thru canal. I could of scrapped side or bottom going thru there. I past by another port, refit only tops off ammo and what not, no work on hull.

I'm on first mission in campaign, so I should be alright when 79% hull.

You should be all right, but it really depends upon the mods you have loaded. The stock game sets true crush depth too low to justify the silly Navigator skill to increase it. There are plenty of mods that fix this, but I normally prefer to go back to port if I am at 80% or less. The damage model is still hard coded to use hull integrity as a direct modifier to true crush depth. With a historical Type VII (crush depth ~230m), your current true crush depth is around 182m. The stock settings place true crush depth around 200m, which means that your modified true crush depth is 158m.

Unless you have a mod that alters the stock crush depth to historical values or have invested at least three points in the Navigator's silly skill, I would turn around to get patched up. Otherwise, avoid all escorts and only use submerged attacks to keep from finding the stray Q-Ship.
