Default Reporting for duty

Fresh from school and sea trials reporting in.

I am seeking some advice on mods and such.

I prefer to play as immersive as possible, no TC if at all possible. I have plenty of free time while standing watch at work to slip and out of a sim. I prefer to save and come back as well. Action is important but it is not the foundation of the experience for me, if it were I would play a consol game and not go for the simulated experience.

I am new to the game so the learning curve is there. I hope to sink more than I am sank and learn from a controlled approach and branch out more after each successful patrol.

In closing, I am looking forward to interacting with you all and welcome any advise and assistance you can offer.

Welcome aboard sailor!

Good luck on the 1X time compression thing. Just be aware it's a two week journey from Pearl Harbor to Japan at economical cruising speed in which 95% of the journey is just sea and sky.

Great point. I suppose until I know what is out there it is impossible to say how I would or would not do something. My meaning is that I am not looking to TC from fight to fight.

If that makes any sense at all.

Welcome aboard!

Since you're new here (and to the game) I suggest you take a look at RockinRobbins's collection of neat tricks, techniques and tactics found here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=146795

As for mods, Trigger Maru Overhauled (TMO) and Real Fleet Boat (RFB) both add to an enhanced simming experience - the former aims for immersion, the latter for realism. You should try both at some point, but keep in mind you can't use both at the same time. Complementary to both the aforementioned mods is the Run Silent Run Deep Campaign (RSRDC), which does a total rehaul of the Career mode. If memory serves, there are versions of this mod compatible with TMO as well as RFB, but it's also available for the stock game, in case you don't play either.
Other mods, such as Fall of the Rising Sun (FotRS), the Game Fixes Only mod (GFO) and Operation Monsoon (OM) also seem to be popular, but since they were released when I was not around I can't tell you anything about them. The full list of available mods can be found here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=155786

Enjoy your stay!

Thanks for the info. I like immersion so I will check that route to see how it goes.

If you want immersion, you might want to check out my radio mods. Link in sig below. I have a few others that might help in that regard too.
