Default The Boss is back...

Not even Big Man's "death" (we all know he's still alive, rocking the hell out of wherever he is) can stop The Boss from coming back in full force:

Bruce Springsteen's new album 'Wrecking Ball' has been set for March 6 release on Columbia Records. Marking his 17th studio album, 'Wrecking Ball' features 11 new Springsteen songs and was produced by Ron Aniello with Bruce Springsteen and executive producer Jon Landau. A special edition of 'Wrecking Ball' will also be available and include two bonus tracks and exclusive artwork and photography.
Also, a single from the album:

Fellow Springsteenfans! (I know there must be some of you here...)

I have a feeling that 2012 might be a good year after all! At least musically!

Nice to see him going with a different producer. Nothing against Brendan O'Brien ( the work he did was quality ), but he has been with Bruce as far back as The Rising.

Change can be a good thing Anyway, look forward to the new stuff.

Judging from the track names, I'd say that this album will not be as "happy" as previous:

Quote:
'Wrecking Ball' Song Titles:
We Take Care of Our Own
Easy Money
Shackled and Drawn
Jack of All Trades
Death to My Hometown
This Depression
Wrecking Ball
You've Got It
Rocky Ground
Land of Hope and Dreams
We Are Alive
I reckon the title song is this one:

An angry Bruce can be a good thing. Those tracks look promising, thanks for sharing

Given his lack of real productivity and impact on the music scene in the past decade or so, should he relinquish his "Boss" title and be henceforth known as "Middle-Manager"?...

(To all you "Bruuuuce!" fans out there, it's not as if I'm calling for him to be made redundant... )

Until somebody else steps up and shows the same longevity and maintained quality of music, I would say no. I think he has aged quite gracefully.

His productivity has never been higher, his impact on the music scene may have lessened as far as direct impact, though his continued influence on the industry is still quite strong and will be for years to come. Arcade Fire being one of the more prominent. Kings of Leon being another.

Interesting little tidbit:

Quote:
Bruce Springsteen got the nickname 'The Boss' when he was much younger and playing gigs with a band in the 1960s. It was his job to collect the money from these gigs and distribute the money with this band members. The nickname stuck although Springsteen disliked the nickname but has since come to terms with it.

Well, decline and struggle have always been themes of his earlier records - can't say I know much of his work in the past 2 decades.

Imo his darkest album is also his best record: Nebraska

Stopped listening or caring about Freehold NJ's favorite son the first time I heard "Born in the USA".

Ditto - Although much of the Born in the USA album was supposed to have been released on the orginal version of Nebraska. Pink Cadillac would have ruined the album IMO.

Check here! http://brucespringsteen.net/news/index.html (right side of screen).

This far, there is only info of the European leg. Apparently he gets to the States in the fall... Well his biggest fanbase is in Europe so I'm not too surprised...

To ya'll Nebraska fans: I can only recommend the "Badlands" album, those are some great cover versions.

Oh really? Can you elaborate why you didn't like the song? It was his breakthrough in Germany, so this was my gateway drug to Bruce His older records followed soon.

I love the acoustic version of Born in the USA which he recorded for Nebraska, very soulful and intense - though I guess this version would not have been the mega hit like the "stadium rock" was.

When I saw the title of this thread "the boss is back" I thought it meant that your missus was back

Oh if only it was true! My missus went away for England for six months just this Thursday, and during this time we will have a "break" as it is called. But she didn't seem to hopeful regarding our chances of becoming a couple again

Anyway, back to Bruce: Someone mentioned acoustic and Born in the USA. That's enough for me to post this video (shush, it is! )
