So long ago I used to pay Sid Myer's "Pirates" game. I loved dueling in the wind and laying broadsides and visiting ports and making negotiations with the governors.
Is there a modern SH3-quality version of these games? Steve |

I am not sure how new you want. The original game was for DOS and I think windows95. There was one released about the time of windows XP which has good graphics and game play.

There's always the re-hash Sid Meier's Pirates! released in 2004, unless that was the one you were referring to in your post.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sid_Mei..._video_game%29 Played it for a while, but wasn't really that addictive a game. That's either a good or a bad quality, I guess.. ![]()

Empire Total War would fit the bill-ish... You can have some epic sea battles in that. But you'd have to put up with the RTS elements... If so, worth it.

East India Company: Pirate Bay isn't too bad. Have 20 years in game to make a name for yourself as a pirate captain raiding in the Indian ocean.

No clue about anything more recent though. I'd be interested too.

Same as Sh3, there may be newer sims, but I've not found a better pirate sim than "Pirates of the Caribbean" that suits my requirements. Just as GWX made SH3 awesome, the Build 14 Beta 2.1 FULL mod has vastly improved POTC.
Here is a pirates fan site http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?/index and Here's were to get the mod for POTC at the site http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.p...-beta-21-full/ Hope that helps. |

It's a MMORPG (free to play), but this comes close to Pirates I think:
