Default Some noobish questions

Hi,

i purchased Dangerous Waters after i played Sub Command for some while.
I have some question, when on sonar station on the Los Angeles Class.

I usually do everything manually, i dont like the auto crew.
So:
  1. Why i cant cycle through the tracker reviews in the narrowband display when auto-crew is disabled?
  2. on Demon there does not show any trackers
  3. how does the sub manage ambigious contacts? On the FFG you can say which one is the mirrored. On the sub obviously only via nav-map -> delete contact.
Thanks for your help

1: If I have Sonar Autocrew on and some narrowband trackers going, pressing the Tracker review works as designed. It flips to one of the tracking bearings. Maybe you have selected the wrong sensor. It can't show bow contact trackers if the TA is selected.

2: No, is as designed. But there is a cursor that you can move to align with the waterfall line, and based on the TPK setting gives you speed.

3: Auto TMA crew uses 'divine intelligence'. It magically knows the instant the tracker is assigned, or the TMA crew starts it's work. In other words, it cheats!

If you want to know yourself, then you should keep an eye on both bearings and see which one moves double the amount of your turn. The one that stays steady on the bearing is the real one. (there might be some normal bearing drift due to relative motion if close by or fast ) The mirror contact moves twice as much as you turn. (after the TA has steadied itself after the turn.) Then it is as you say, delete contact on the map, or drop contact in TMA screen.

Hi,

thanks for your reply.

So:

Code:
1: If I have Sonar Autocrew on and some narrowband trackers going, pressing the Tracker review works as designed.
means i can not cycle if autocrew is disabled?

On the demon above you have buttons to select the contact you want to hear. At my station it does not show anything. I cant select any contact.

I am sorry. Tracker review works with Auto-crew both enabled and disabled. I misunderstood your question initially. The autocrew does scan the azimuth (bearing) waterfall continuously, so it goes to the contact and immediately moves further to the right. Maybe that happens faster than you notice. But more likely you have selected the wrong sensor. (Bow, Hull, TA)

What do you mean, no buttons at all? Demon needs broadband trackers in Dangerous Waters to display it's lines. Narrowband trackers are useless for it. Based on your previous questions I suspect you have only NB trackers. Iirc this is opposite to what SC required. So you might have to unlearn that.

If that isn't it, could it be you still play an old version? The latest DW version is 1.4

I have also noticed that to get a contact to show in the DEMON readout you need a strong sonar contact first - get closer to the target to improve the sonar contact and the trackers will then appear on the buttons.

Hi,

i just got quick question: Is it possible to create custom key shortcuts? I read a while ago, that some players had hotkeys for changing their gamma settings. I 've been looking for this some time now, but was not able to find anything. As you probably know, this would be extremly helpful for NB-Sonar.

Thanks for your help

As far as I know gamma change in DW is only done through changing the dangerouswaters.ini file. Meaning it is set when loading the game only.

Alternatively, maybe some people have graphics cards drivers that allow profile settings (with specific brightness/contrast/gamma settings) to be loaded with key combos. That would seem the most likely option.
