Default Who is having explosion lag?

At first i thought it was only single core users but the following video is from someone with good specs , look at 4.00 mins in, the explosion is lagging on his as well.

This needs to be fixed!

Yes, get this at times. The strange thing is that it isn't the game that runs slow, just the animation of the explosion that looks like if the game was running 2FPS.

if you guys are going to post this stuff then please give your specs so we can see your system and form opinions on this data.

if we spot patterns then we will all have a better understanding of just where the line is to what you really need to run sh5 without too slow fps issues.

depending on your system it could be video card, system ram, cpu, or just a too full hard drive (as strange as it seams i have seen that last one have an effect)

Like I said in my post, it isn't the general FPS that is low, just the explosion animation's. So, I can at times have 40FPS, but the animation plays slow.

Might be issue with the particles, as we have already seen the messed up particles when running on one core on dual core PC.

Specs:
Amd Athlon LE-1620 2.4ghz
2 gigDDR3 Ram
Geforce 9800GT 1 gig nvidia driver v817.11:9621
I can have 1920x1280 res, all high settings, all eye candy, get like 50 fps.

Explosions slideshow except if setting sh5 to high priority, then they run approx 1/2 speed. res and video settings make no difference, except I get higher fps in game.

I had horrid lag when going outside sub, turned off vsync and smooth now. I have everything maxed and 2x AA with edge detect. Only problem with turning off vsync is crossfire only uses one core on my 4870x2 instead of two. Hopefully an ATI driver update will fix this so I can crank up the AA.

Some are saying to set affinity to one core with task manager, but I never had to do this. Might work for some of you.

Specs:

AMD Phenom II x4 965 @ 3.4 ghz
4 Gigs RAM
Radeon 4870x2
Windows 7 64-bit

I get horrible lag if I watch an explosion up close.

I'm thinking its the particles... lots of em.

So i just watch from a distance

Athlon64 3500+ (single core, i know its underspec'd)
4gb DDR RAM
Radeon HD4870 1gb
Windows XP pro 32bit
Screen res = 1280 x 1024

All settings on Max (including shadows). but particles set to min (because i have a single core CPU and i though the particles ran on the other CPU core ?).
AA x 4
Game runs at 50 - 60 fps
In control room 40 - 50 fps
In control room with 10 or more ships near = 20 - 30 fps

Explosions and water spray are slide show like (game fps is still as stated above). This is due to my single core CPU. or so i thought.... make me wonder now, if muti core CPU also have this too.

With my specs (above) I don't get any slideshows, everything is smooth.

Forgot to mention my resolution: 1600x1200.

This guy cant have good specs, thats one choppy video.

I get the slow motion explosions and bow spray some times - but only when recording with fraps - and that program is heavy on the cpu. Still a bit strange that only those things slow down though.

Core2Duo E8500 (2x 3.16ghz)
4GB DDR2
ATI Radeon HD5870
1920x1200

All settings maxed, all options checked except vsync, I get from 40-90 fps. Appoximately, I dont pay much attention to fps when it doesnt lag. I changed from XP to Win7 (added 4Gb ram)and just installed the game, so I will check how it runs now.

Yeah, I've been having this problem. It seems to come and go, but when it's bad, it's a real eyesore in an otherwise gorgeous game. I'd love to get to the bottom of it.
Specs: Dualcore Athlon64
Geforce 8800 GTX 512Mb
3 GB DDR2 RAM
Windows XP and running it at 1920x1200 resolution.
Everything else runs smooth as silk (except the command room with shadows on) but every once in a while the splashes and explosions just seem to freeze up in an otherwise fluid world. Very bizarre...never seen anything like it in any other game.

Okay, its worse in Win7. I get more fps now, between 40-120, but when I hit "record" the bow spray freezes in one spot and the uboat sails onward with no bow spray. The minute fraps is not recording it comes back. It seems explosions and bow spray run on a different core than the game, and other processes hinders it.

E8400 4G 9800GTX XPSp3 & I just stick with the drivers that MS pushes.

Bow spray is half the speed of the rest of the water. I havn't really noticed explosions so much, was planning to install old explosion mod when i get home tonight, but maybe ill hold off and pay a little closer attention to the original first.
