The H.L. Hunley. I remember some of the pictures taken inside the hull. As bad as U-boats were, they were a cruise ship compared to the inside of the Hunley. One single space with a crankshaft and two officers at either end to control the open-top ballast tanks. All of the men who served on that prototype had serious brass, considering the likelihood of death. Job well done to the historians and archaeologists who worked so hard to preserve her.
