Apocalypse Now... Chinese Style!

Quote:
Four Chinese cargo ships and one Burmese patrol ship were attacked on the Mekong River on Jan. 4, river police in charge of security on the Mekong River in north and northeast Thailand told People's Daily.
...
The report went on to state that the armed assailants fired M79 rockets at the ships, with the first rocket falling in the river and the second exploding near the patrol ship
More info here:
http://china-defense.blogspot.com/20...tacked-on.html

The Chinese are sending these:

It has 100mm armor and 14.5mm machine guns...

Still not as cool as PBR...

because we all know that anything that involves China is scary. really, why are we so afraid of china? if anything it's a sign to stop letting wall street run the nation and return us to what made America great: Science innovations and a strong middle class.

Why do you attempt to inject partisan politics into everything?

Chinese patrol boats on Asian rivers have squat to do with your divisive party line. Maybe you posted in the wrong thread...

I thought it was corporations screwing over the middle/lower classes and economically enslaving minorities that made America great... And killing Indians too.

Please ignore/close this thread.

Forgive me for bringing to everyone's attention a ongoing multinational counter piracy operation they may not have heard of.

I didn't realize it would turn political in the 2nd reply.

Let me check my math. My reply would be the first reply, not the second post.

Took a look at the link and found the Laotian Boat is the same like the chinese, so this boat maybe has some kind of a Platoon on board to respond such attacks eventually with an land counterattack i assume.

China, Myanmar, Cambodia and I think Laos all operate these craft, they are based on some kind of civilian scow.

Smaller Chinese Cutters are carried aboard the larger boats:

Close up of the smaller cutter:

This one is Laotian:

This shows where the smaller cutter is stored:

Some other PRC patrol craft, looks like its based on some kind of passenger ferry:

Chinese Troops:

Cambodian sailors I think:

This is GT, you should know by now that every thread regardless of what it is will turn either about politics, religion, or sex (or some combination of the three).

As for the topic, I have to say those boats look like nice big targets to me.

I'm wondering why the Chinese boats have all that bunting on display?

Some kind of message perhaps?

At first, I didn't see the guns on there, but after looking at the close-ups, I see them now. The whole thing just struck me as funny, because they don't look like a military ship.

This looks more like a boat show.

Reminds me a bit of the problems they had with that farmer who wouldn't get off the land developers wanted. He used a homemade rocket launcher on them IIRC. Let me check that...yeah, here we are, Yang Youde:
