Sound Question ... SH IV - 1.5 w/ TMO 2.5 and RSRDC
I've just encountered (and screwed up the attack) a large (huge?) convoy on the west side of the passage between the Sulu Arch. & Borneo Island. 20+ ships and 6 escorts - mid 1944.
When I played SH Commander's Edition (many long moons ago) ... I stayed away from anything with over 3 escorts, but this being SH4 TMO2.5+RDRDC I thought I'd try it once. Well on the initial approach at 300 feet from head on, rising to periscope depth I was attacked (golly gee), but never heard depth charges or explosions, just suddenly damage reports. In SH-CE there was no doubt about when you were being hit (the screen shook - n.b. how did they do that anyway?) but just now in SH 4 -1.5 there was no noise, just suddenly damage reports ... What gives , do I need to add/change a sounds mod? Any help, suggestions, etc, would be appreciated. Thanks Berniep2 Playing at 85 % realism, no helps only not manual targeting ... isn't that what the XO and WEPS are there for? |

I play without cams using TMO and RSRD, so stuck in the sub, sound is everything. You can hear inside your sub when an escort gets within a certain range. I have no problem hearing when a escort is making it's run and can usually hear the charges hitting the water and the booms when they go off. If you're not hearing any of this, something is bugged.
If a charge is close enough, inside your sub will rock and shake and your men will bounce around, plus you can hear pipes busting, electric shorts, etc...I've changed all these sounds to others, but these sounds still exist. |

Thanks for the info ... I'll have to see about checking the sounds and whether they've been altered by a mod or just not there.

Bernie, have you recently updated any of your graphic/audio drivers? The reason I ask is because I have a dedicated sound card and a few times, when I updated my graphics drivers, an on-board audio driver (new) came attached with my NVIDIA graphics drivers install. It automatically changed all my sound drivers and took me quite a while to figure out what the problem was. Check your PC audio settings to make sure they haven't changed.
