As title says, Iv'e noticed that friendly ships make no noise on my hydrophone, even when they're going full steam and I'm right beside them.
Please say this is a bug otherwise it takes all the tension out of a spotting when you can tell whether the ship is friendly or not before you can even see it, let alone what flag its showing. Mods I have installed are TMO2.5 and TGT dials to PK fix for TMO. e: also if someone could tell me how to rebind keys in SH4 I'd be grateful, I found; http://subsim.com/radioroom//showthread.php?t=117517 but that seems long dead. Specificaly I would like to move the reset to realtime key from backspace to numpad *. Last edited by Pharnakes; 01-01-12 at 11:33 AM. |

![]() ![]() Do you hear the friendly ships when they are out of visual range? I'm not certain about this, but I vaguely remember there being an issue with not hearing ships on sonar while they were in visual range. I think it may have had something to do with certain sensors (radar, sonar, sight) taking precedence over the other and it also may have been a hard-coded issue. Hopefully, someone will come along and clarify this for you. Sorry, I cannot help with the key-binding. Still, welcome abroad. ![]()

![]() You should be able to hear the ships wether they are friendly or not. There could be an issue with a particular type of ship, but as Ducimus created TMO, I would say this is unlikely. Are you sure you had your hydrophones pointed in the right direction? Was it a fishing boat or sampan? |

Powered allied ships I've encountered so far are two trawlers (fishing boats but definetly powered all the same) and one small costal freighter, all Dutch and all under steam and moving when I found them.
Its not as issue with my using the hydrophones, I can easily detect enemy ships, but I practicaly rammed the trawlers trying to get a signal on the hydro and not a hint of anything. I suppose I should try unloading the mods and testing with the base game. |

There are other ships too which don't have a detectable sound, one of them is the medium modern freighter. Each time I detect this kind of ship there is no sound, no matter what nationality.
