Default Peter Jackson to unveil first Hobbit trailer tomorrow

Hobbit trailer due out tomorrow!
Quote:
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released on December 14, 2012, with the second film, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, due out on December 13, 2013.
The wait will soon be over for Hobbit fans: Peter Jackson will unveil the first trailer for his hugely anticipated movie tomorrow.

Studio officials said the trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey would be launched at 4pm on Wednesday, and nzherald.co.nz readers can expect to see it on their favourite news site as soon as possible after that time.

Anticipation for the film, based on JRR Tolkein's iconic book, is high as only a handful of production photos of actors in character have been seen.

But a new synopsis of the film, released today, unveils new details about the movie.

"The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug," the statement said.

"Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of 13 dwarves l

"Their journey will take them into the wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

"Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever ... Gollum.

"Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities ... A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know."

A hobbit trailer you say?

I believe the proper industry term for such a thing is properly called:

A Short

niice!
I wonder if Jackson will again release two versions (extended and cinema cut), this way we won't have a chance to see the true movie before the world ends...

add 1 minute of gfx with dramatic music to the beginning and some text "saying coming in 2012" to the end and voilá: that's what you call a trailer nowadays

I don't know about this sequel, though. It looks like there are some consistency problems with the hobbit. Last time, he was old, now in this movie they got a younger actor? Where are the characters we had in the previous movies? They named it after the hobbits, but there don't seem to be many of them here. There were a bunch in the previous movies. There was already a well-known dwarf, and now they create a bunch more new ones? They kept the Dumbldore knock-off, though. But what happened to him. The last time we saw him, he was all in white, now he's back to his dirty grey look?

And they brought back that CGI Gollum thing. I thought they killed that character in the last movie.

Hollywood really is running out of ideas. Who comes up with this stuff?

The hobbit is actually a prequel to the LOTR. Bilbo is abOut frodos age in the hobbit. It's the story about how bilbo gets the ring.

The movie is called the hobbit, not hobbits. Iirc, you really don't even get much exposure at all to other hobbits in the book other then bilbo.

It would help to do a little research before going on a rant.

No Smaug footage!?!?!

Any definitive word on who is voicing the dragon? I hope it is NOT Leonard Nimoy. His voice is too recognizable. Like Sean Connery in Dragonheart.
His voice propelled me right out of the story.

(the script would have propelled me right out of the theater were it not for my wife )

What a great name! And apparently that is his real given birth name: Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch. He's also listed as 'Necromancer', which seems to be a code-name for Sauron.

I'm glad to see that Christoper Lee is still around to play Saruman, along with several others From Lord Of The Rings. Also Brian Blessed is "rumored" to be playing King Dain.

I'm getting excited about this.
